Mayor Gehrz thanked Dr. Anderson and the other persons involved for <br />their work with all the different committees in order to bring the matter to a satisfactory <br />conclusion. <br />Councilmember Lindstrom moved to approve the proposed common principles. The motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Consideration of an agreement with Metricom Internet services for use of the right of way <br />Administrator Hoyt explained that the council was being asked to approve use of the right of way <br />for an internet provider. The city authorizes companies to use the public right of way if permits <br />are approved and restorative costs of boulevard covered. Hoyt then introduced Metricom <br />• representative Max Thompson who summarized the wireless internet service system that his <br />company provides and asks that an agreement be approved by council for use of the city's right of <br />way. It is estimated that Falcon Heights will need 7 units which will be box mounted on existing <br />poles, some of which are on the county right of way. The city will receive a percentage of the <br />revenue to cover any change to right of way. After a brief discussion, Councilmember Talbot <br />moved to approve the agreement allowing Metricom to use the city right of way. The motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Request to approve expenditures associated with the implementation of GIS <br />Heather Worthington, assistant to the city administrator, presented the expenditures associated <br />with the implementation of a GIS project. The GIS system will allow the city to track land use, <br />zoning and planning information, as well as map public works themes such as sewers, fire <br />hydrants and park features. Worthington recommended entering into a contract with Rowekamp <br />Associates to provide the services and also the addition of one computer and a large format <br />printer. The estimated cost for implementation is $9,281.58. Councilmember Kuettel moved to <br />approve the estimated expenditure of $9,281.58.
