<br />MINUTES <br />JULY 25, <br />~GE 2 <br />KERN, DE <br />19 91 AND <br />1990 <br />WENTER, VIERE SELECTED TO AUDIT CITY FOR YEARS 1990, <br />1992 <br />-~ <br />City Accountant Tom Kelly explained the rationale behind <br />reconunending Kern, DeWenter, Viere from the twelve firms who <br />responded to the RFP. Wallin, who was participated in the <br />interviews, indicated he endorsed the recommendation. Following <br />a brief discussion, Wallin moved that Kern, DeWenter, Viere be <br />selected to serve as the City's audit firm for the years 1990, <br />1991 and 1992. Motion carried unanimously._ _ <br />BUDGET WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR 8/18/90 <br />Council scheduled a budget workshop for Agust 18, 1990 from 8:00 <br />to 10:00 A.M. <br />PURCHASE OF NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM AND SOFTWARE AUTHORIZED <br />Kelly presented an update and additional information on his <br />recommendations for upgrading the City's computer system. <br />Following some discussion, Ciernia moved that the recommendation <br />for purchase of computer software at a cost of $10,072.00, and <br />hardware at a cost of $14,776.00 be accepted. Motion carried <br />unanimously. Funding will come from the Capital Improvement <br />Fund, the Sanitary Sewer Fund and the Storm Sewer Fund. <br />DESIGNATION OF STREETS TO BE POSTED "NO PARKING, TOW AWAY ZONE" <br />DURING STATE FAIR <br />Baldwin explained that following the 1989 State Fair Council <br />discussed the possibility of experimenting with reducing the <br />number of signs to be posted by eliminating posting in areas <br />where it may no longer be necessary. The purpose of reducing <br />the signage was to lower costs and and a possible reduction of <br />liability. After a brief discussion the following streets inrere <br />designated to be posted: 1) All of Northome, water side, 2) All <br />of Hollywood Court including alley, 3) St. Mary's, Fry, Maple <br />Knoll Dr. and Garden Ave., west of Snelling on both sides, 4) <br />Water side of all streets north of Larpenteur, between Snelling <br />and Hamline running to Roselawn, except Sheldon, Pascal and <br />Simpson north of-Ruggles, and all of Albert and Holton, 5) <br />Tatum, 1,300 north of Larpenteur, 6) Lindig on waterside, <br />including cul-de-sacs, 7) Larpenteur Ave from Snelling to <br />Cleveland, and 8) Snelling Drive north and southbound and <br />Snelling Ave., both sides. If problems arise from the areas <br />deleted from posting, staff is authorized to post more signs. <br />PARK BUILDING UPDATE <br />Progress on the Park Building construction was discussed <br />briefly. <br />AUTHORIZATION TO SUBMIT A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION FOR <br />RECREATION RELATED IMPROVEMENTS <br />Council considered and approved a request from Carol Kriegler to <br />
