<br />1 <br />MINUTES <br />MAY 8, 1991 <br />PAGE 4 <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR 5/15/91, 5:00 P.M. <br />Due to pending legislation restricting the debt levy limit on <br />sale of bonds, Council deemed it prudent to reschedule the bond <br />sale date of May 22, 1991 to May 15, 1991. Wallin moved that a <br />special meeting be scheduled for 5:00 P.M., May 15, 1991 for <br />sale of bonds for the 1991 Street Improvement Project. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />REJECTION OF PROPOSAL FOR CREATION OF A CITY FLAG <br />Council considered quotes obtained (as had been requested <br />previously) for creation of a City Flag. The project had been <br />considered at the October 24, 1990 Council Meeting following a <br />letter from the Mayor of Rochester asking that communities <br />provide a City Flag for the opening service of the League of <br />Minnesota Cities conference. Wallin indicated he was opposed to <br />spending money for this type of project with the present <br />budgetary problems and felt that the City had survived without a <br />flag for 40 years and could continue to do so. Council <br />concurred that expending funds for a flag was not a prudent use <br />of City money.
