Motion carried unanimously.
Engineer Schunicht presented an update on the Tatum Street reconstruction
and referred to his memo to the residents of Tatum, a copy of which is
on file in the Clerk's Office. He explained that three feet concrete
driveway aprons will be installed and recommended that Council consider
amending the code which presently requires bituminous aprons, since most
utilities have been installed in the City and it should no longer
be necessary to excavate in the apron area of the right-of-way. Otherwise, it will be left until spring (no
additional cost to the City)•
Engineer Schunicht also informed that the alley behind Bullseye will
be reconstructed this fall, as he felt the alley would not hold up
during the winter. He felt that patching done by Bullseye is not
sufficient. He stated that the contractor has finished Coffman
Street, however, a wear coat will be added in the spring.
Jay McNabb, representing the Fire Department, was in attendance to
discuss the Department's request for the City's participation in
the Pension Fund, and presented his report dated October 17, 1985.
Items discussed were method of keeping Council from participating in
manner of distribution of funds, what the Department hopes to achieve
through the extra funds, i.e. recruiting, increasing attendance at
calls, percentage of attendance at calls required before funds are
distributed (the Department has suggested 33 percent, Council felt a
higher percentage might be appropriate), and whether or not the proposed
MINUTES OF
10/9/85
APPROVED
TATUM ST.
CONSTRUCTION
UPDATE
COFFMAN ST.
& BULLSEYE
ALLEY RE-
CONSTRUCTION
UPDATE
FIRE DEPT.
PENSION FUND
DISCUSSION -
JAY MC NABB,
DEPARTMENT
REPRESENTATIVE
