MINUTES <br />CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS 1 3 <br />SEPTEMBER 20, 1978 <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br /> <br />A Special Council meeting of the City of Falcon Heights was called to <br />order by Mayor Warkentien at 7:30 p.m. <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough and Brown. Also PRESENT <br />present was Clerk Administrator Barnes. <br />Couneilmember Steele due to another commitment. ABSENT <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that the purpose of the meeting <br />was to review the 1979 City Budget which was submitted by the Clerk <br />Administrator. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reviewed each budgeted category with council <br />as to the needs and suggested cuts. <br />Mr. James Jernberg, 15110 Iowa appeared before Council and requested JAMESJERNBERG <br />that the line item for hockey in the Recreation Budget be retained at 15110 IOWA <br />$x.,500 in lieu of the Clerk's recommendation of $1,300. He also <br />suggested if Council was to close two (2) hockey rinks this year that <br />the Idaho Snelling rink be one that would remain open. <br />Council did not take affirmative action on the budget and will again <br />have a review at the Regular Meeting of September 27, 1978. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes submitted two estimates for drapes which are <br />to be installed in the main office of the Clerk's Office as follows: <br />Montgomery ward, Inc. $110.08 <br />J. C. Penney Company $461.!18 <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown to accept the <br />quotation of Montgomery Ward, Inc. in the amount of $1110.08, to provide <br />the drapes with linings and walnut traverse rods. Upon a vote being <br />taken the following voted +'aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, <br />McGough and Brown and the following voted "nay'+: None. Motion carried. <br />Zhe Falcon Heights United Church of Christ requested Council to permit <br />them to have an Ice Cream Social on the Church lawn and parking lot on <br />September 24, 1978, from 11:30 aim. to 4:0o p.m. <br />Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Black to approve <br />their request for an Ice Cream Social as requested. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />DRAPES FOR <br />OFFICE <br />ICE GREAM SOCIAL <br />CHURCH <br />Council directed Clerk Administrator ;Barnes to write a letter to Bert REQUEST FOR <br />Gimmestad, former volunteer fireman, requesting him to return equipment FIRE EQUIPMENT <br />to the City he had in his possession as a fireman. RE~,~ <br />Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien to adjourn ADJOURNMCDTT <br />the Special Council meeting at 11:10 p.m. Upon a vote being taken the <br />following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough <br />and Brown and the following voted "nay's; None. Motion carried. <br />
