CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />• MINUTES OF MAY 27, 1998 3 <br />Acting Mayor Jacobs convened the meeting at 7:07 p.m. <br />PRESENT <br />Gibson Talbot, Hustad, and Jacobs. Also present was Hoyt and Asleson. <br />ABSENT <br />Gehrz and Kuettel. <br />COMMUNITY FORUM <br />There was no one wishing to take advantage of the community forum. <br />MINUTES OF MAY 13, 1998 <br />Minutes were approved by unanimous consent. <br />CONSENT AGENDA APPROVED <br />Councilmember Hustad moved to approve the following consent agenda. The motion <br />• passed unanimously. <br />1. Disbursements <br />2. Licenses <br />3. Approval of Resolution 98-14, ordering apportionment of special assessments for re- <br />platted parcels <br />4. Approval of St. Paul's plans and specifications for the Hoyt Avenue construction <br />project <br />5. Authorization to purchase cable television equipment <br />6. Approval of change order #4 from North Metro Landscaping <br />7. Approval of change order #3 from Killmer Electric <br />POLICY AGENDA <br />CONSIDERATION OF PURCHASE OF A COMPUTER NETWORK SYSTEM <br />Administrator Hoyt explained that the city had investigated having a computer network <br />installed at City Hall. The network would be connected to a central server which would <br />allow for file sharing, printer sharing, and centralized data collection. The network would <br />also allow city staff to communicate with the outside world via a-mail and to do research <br />via the Internet. The capital cost for the system would be S 14,455 initially, with <br />operating costs of approximately $2,400 per year. <br />• Jeff Bergman, GE Capital IT, gave background on his company's services and product <br />lines, as well as explaining the benefits of a network system. He explained this his <br />company holds the state contract for computer hardware components and has a full staff <br />
