3Zn (8) <br />CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />• MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 11, 1998 <br />Mayor Gehrz convened the meeting at 7:06 p.m. <br />PRESENT <br />Gehrz, Hustad, Kuettel, and Jacobs. Also present was Hoyt, Asleson, Kriegler, and Maertz. <br />ABSENT <br />Gibson Talbot. <br />COMMUNITY FORUM <br />There was no one wishing to take advantage of the community forum. <br />MINUTES OF JANUARY 28, 1998 <br />Minutes were approved by unanimous consent. <br />CONSENT AGENDA APPROVED <br />• Councilmember Kuettel moved to approve the following consent agenda. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />1. Disbursements <br />2. Licenses <br />3. Appointment to the Fire/Rescue Department <br />4. Approve fund transfer of $3,410.92 from the 1984B TIF bonds to the 1993 refinancing <br />bonds <br />POLICY AGENDA <br />UPDATE ON THE ACTIVITIES IN THE PARKS/PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br />Staff members Carol Kriegler and Bill Maertz updated the city council on 1997 activities in <br />the parks and public works department. Kriegler reported on recreation programs and <br />neighborhood events. Kriegler and Maertz detailed specific physical improvements and <br />maintenance done in 1997 and planned activity for 1998. <br />UPDATE AND DISCUSSION ON THE PROPOSED COMPUTER NETWORK UPGRADE AT <br />CITY HALL <br />Administrator Hoyt reported that the city's a-mail and internet web access accounts expire <br />at the end of February. The North Suburban Cable Commission provides its member cities <br />• with the hardware necessary to hook up with the Commission's internet service provider. <br />However, a network system would be necessary in order to provide connections to each <br />work station. Preliminary cost estimates to install a network range from $8,000 to <br />$15,000. After discussion, the council directed staff to pursue the available options and <br />bring back more specific information at a later date. <br />
