Motion carried. <br />Councilman Black presented the variance request of Buck's Unpainted <br />Furniture, requesting one pylon sign, and one sign to be placed on the <br />south side of the building. He ncted that the dimensions of the signs <br />would be 156 square feet for the sign on the front of the building, and <br />and 192 square feet for the sign on the pylon. Councilman Black then <br />read the Planning Commission's minutes of February 25, 1975, recommending <br />approval for the variance. <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Labalestra, to approve the <br />variance request of Buck's Unpainted Furniture, provided that there be no <br />flashing lights on the sign. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted <br />naye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, and Labalestra, and <br />the following voted "nay": Councilman Steele. Motion carried. <br />The Council considered G1erk-Administrator Barnes' request to ban parking "NO PARKING" <br />on the west side of Hamiine from the a11e~ south of La~^penteur Avenue to SIGNS FOR TrJEST <br />California Avenue. It was noted that if parking -is permitted within this SIDE OF HAMLINE <br />area, traffic is required to cross over the diagonal striped area desig- AVENUE TO <br />nating a median, thereby causing traffic violations. CALIFORNIA <br />Clerk-Administrator Tiarnes noted he had contacted the people involved, <br />and that they did not object to the posting of "No Parking" signs. <br />BUCKS UNPAINTED <br />FURNITURE SIGN <br />REQUEST <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilman Steele, to request the <br />Ramsey County Commissioner to post the west side of Hamiine from the <br />alley south of Larpenteur to California, with "D?c Parking" signs. Upon <br />a vote being taken, the following voted "ay-e" : Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />men Black, Ecklund, Steele, and Labalestra, and the following voted "nay": <br />None. Motion carried. <br />The Roseville School District 623 Task Force letter was noted by the Council, <br />which had requested the Falcon Heights City Council to appoint a resident ROSEVILLE DIST. <br />to ~!-,e Task Force, which would study the declining enrollment in the 623 TASK FORCE <br />district for c~,ing years, and to determine which schools shall be APPOINTMENT <br />utilized for educational purposes or other activities. <br />Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Mayor T^'s.rkentien, to appoint Mr. <br />Donald A. Grittner, 1718 Arona Avenue, as the Falcon Heights repre- <br />sentative to the District 623 'T'ask Torce, and to direct Clerk-Admin- <br />istrator Barnes to inform Mr. Grittner of his appointment. Upon a <br />vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentie n, Counc:ii- <br />men Black, Eclaur_d, Steele, and Labalestra, and the follo-~ring votes' <br />' nay" : P3one. Motion carried. <br />The Council set citizen input meetings for the proposed State Aid Street <br />Improvements a.s follows: Arona Avenue south of Ia.rpenteur, and Crawford <br />Avenue east of Snelling Drive for 7:00 end ":00 p.m., respectively, on <br />March 13, 1975; and Garden Avenue east of Snelling Drive to Hamiine Avenue <br />for 5:00 p.m. 1"ar.~c'i 27, 1975.
