to (,v MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA JUNE 10, 1976 A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights City Council was called to order by Mayor Warkentien at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Ecklund and Labalestra. Also present were Clerk-Administrator Barnes, Engineer Cook, and Attorney Galvin. Councilmen Black and Steele. Councilman Steele arrived late. PRESENT ABSENT Moved by Councilman Ecklund, seconded by Councilman Labalestra APPROVAL OF to approve the Minutes of May 27, 1976, as submitted. Upon a MINUTES: vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, MAY 27, 1976 Councilmen Ecklund and Labalestra, and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. 1 Gary Mueller, former University of Minnesota student, has pre- pared a report dealing with recreational needs and site planning in the City of Falcon Heights. He reviewed his report using slides showing the present condition of the Idaho-Snelling Park and offered proposed recommendations for the improvement of its facilities and the park site. The report, illustrations, and the result of the survey are on file in the Clerk-Administrator's office. Paul Kurpiewski, 15l~3 Iowa, living east of the park, said that he felt the holding pond constituted a health hazard and was also a danger to drowning. H® stated that he felt a baseball diamond could be constructed, along with a one-half court basketball area. ~`."°' Mr. Kurpiewski also was in favor of maintaining a hockey rink at the Park. Robert 3utula, 1530 West Iowa, stated his children used the Park frequently, and he would like to ses it improved. Drainage problems at the area of the Park were discussed. It was suggested that a representative of the Highway Department be con- tacted in order to discuss improving the matter of water drainage.
