44 MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA JUNE 22, 1972 A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights Council was called to order by Mayor Warkentien at 8:00 P.M. PRESENT: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Stone, Taylor. ABSENT : None Minutes: Motion by Councilman Stone, seconded by Councilman Black, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 8, 1972, as amended. Motion carried. Close Associates Motion by Councilman Black, seconded by Councilman Stone, Architects to rescind the motion of June 8, to select Close Associates, Selection Architects, for the purpose of designing and supervising Rescinded: the remodeling and adding to the building of Webers Cottage Inn, 1708 North Snelling Avenue, for the purpose of establishing a municipal liquor store. AYES: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Stone. Abstained: Councilmen Ecklund, Taylor. Motion carried. Recreation Mr. Charles Boudreau, University of Minnesota Recreation Program Progress: Instructor was present at the meeting to discuss the progress of the summer recreation program. He stated that rliss Pat Rizzi, Summer Director, was working very hard and some of the leaders really had their hands full. Registration was not completed but program demand was high and some of the classes were pretty well filled. Children registering should be at least 8 years old. He mentioned that additional room may be needed for evening classes. Movies are being held at the Falcon Heights School. Also mentioned was that residents living in the Maple Knoll area would be interested in a small playground area, and Mr. Boudreau stated that a Village the size of Falcon Heights should have 18 to 25 acres for recreation, and we may be able to get the land south of the Falcon Woods playground from the University of Minnesota. Councilman Black mentioned to Mr. Boudreau the Resolution passed by the Village requiring the hiring of Falcon Heights aspplicants before any other were considered, and rlr. Boudreau answered that they were hired before the Resolution was passed or considered. He also stated that University Grove playground has only one leader but that he will select afield worker to assist. A square dance will be held Thursday, June 29, 1972, at the Falcon Heights School. Miss Pat Rizzi will distribute a weekly newsletter starting Tuesday, June 27, 1972. CATV Discussion: No action was taken at this time as the Metro Council is preparing a report.
