44 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA <br />JUNE 22, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights Council was called to order by Mayor <br />Warkentien at 8:00 P.M. <br />PRESENT: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Stone, Taylor. <br />ABSENT : None <br />Minutes: Motion by Councilman Stone, seconded by Councilman Black, <br />to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 8, <br />1972, as amended. Motion carried. <br />Close Associates Motion by Councilman Black, seconded by Councilman Stone, <br />Architects to rescind the motion of June 8, to select Close Associates, <br />Selection Architects, for the purpose of designing and supervising <br />Rescinded: the remodeling and adding to the building of Webers <br />Cottage Inn, 1708 North Snelling Avenue, for the purpose <br />of establishing a municipal liquor store. AYES: Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Stone. Abstained: Councilmen <br />Ecklund, Taylor. Motion carried. <br />Recreation Mr. Charles Boudreau, University of Minnesota Recreation <br />Program Progress: Instructor was present at the meeting to discuss the progress <br /> of the summer recreation program. He stated that rliss Pat <br /> Rizzi, Summer Director, was working very hard and some of <br /> the leaders really had their hands full. Registration was <br /> not completed but program demand was high and some of the <br /> classes were pretty well filled. Children registering <br /> should be at least 8 years old. He mentioned that additional <br /> room may be needed for evening classes. Movies are being <br /> held at the Falcon Heights School. Also mentioned was <br /> that residents living in the Maple Knoll area would be <br /> interested in a small playground area, and Mr. Boudreau <br /> stated that a Village the size of Falcon Heights should <br /> have 18 to 25 acres for recreation, and we may be able to <br /> get the land south of the Falcon Woods playground from the <br /> University of Minnesota. <br /> Councilman Black mentioned to Mr. Boudreau the Resolution <br /> passed by the Village requiring the hiring of Falcon Heights <br /> aspplicants before any other were considered, and rlr. <br /> Boudreau answered that they were hired before the Resolution <br /> was passed or considered. He also stated that University <br /> Grove playground has only one leader but that he will <br /> select afield worker to assist. A square dance will be <br /> held Thursday, June 29, 1972, at the Falcon Heights School. <br /> Miss Pat Rizzi will distribute a weekly newsletter starting <br /> Tuesday, June 27, 1972. <br />CATV Discussion: No action was taken at this time as the Metro Council is <br /> preparing a report. <br />
