2 780 <br /> MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 26, 1968 <br /> The regular meeting was called to order at 7100 P.M. with the following membe rs <br />presents Mayor Warkentien, Clerk Strandquist, Councilmen Black, Stone and <br />E <br />A <br /> cklund. <br />lso present were Attorney Seed, Engineer Lemberg and Treasurer Ols en. <br /> Clerk Strandquist left the meeting at approximately $:~.5 P.M. <br /> Minutest Stone moved, seconded by Ecklund that the minutes of <br /> the meeting of September 12, 1968 be approved. Ayes: All. <br /> Nayss None. Motion was carried. <br /> Voter Registration M'rs. Betty Jones and Mrs. Mary Waldo presented plans f© r <br /> League of Women registering voters. The League_of Women Voters has offered <br /> Yoters: _, to register voters on five evenings., October 9, 10, 11, and <br /> 11~ and 15 until 9:00 P.M. at the Village Ha11. The League <br /> has offered to place posters in the three polling places, <br /> in apartment buildings and shopping areas, insert items <br /> in newspapers and church bulletins, conduct a telephone <br /> campaign, and want to put concerted efforts to reach <br /> everyone in the village. They suggested that a table b e <br /> placed in Commonwealth Terrace which would enable stude nts <br /> in that area to register. <br /> After discussion, the Councilmen agreed that the plans <br /> are acceptable and the League of Women Voters were <br /> commended and thanked for their efforts. <br /> Correspondence <br />Department of Labor Notice from State of Minn. Dept. of Labor and Industry, <br /> and Industry Re- Workmen~s Compensation Commission ordered resetting of <br /> setting Case of .case of_Dewey A. Smith, Jr. vs Village of Falcon Heights, <br /> Dewey A. Smith= and Iowa.National Mutual Insurance and Bituminous Casualty <br /> Corporation and State Treasurer, Custodian of Special <br /> Compensation Fund to October 7, 1968• <br /> Hearing before Notice of Hearing in the Matter of a Petition of the <br /> Public Service Amalgamate Transit Union, Transit Employees Div. 1005 for <br /> Commissions the Establishment of an Exaet Fare Method for Collecting <br /> Passenger Fares on Buses Operated by Twin City Lines Inc <br /> in the Twin City Metropolitan Area was read. <br />James Tarbox, Atty. Letter from James C. Tarbox, attorney called attention <br />Arthur Lindig and to the fact that-the Julia Lindig (now deceased) home at <br />Julia Lindig~s 1870 West ftoselawn Avenue has been extensively vandalized <br />Estate:t _ and is a nuisance. ,It further stated that Art Lindig would <br />be willing to buy it for a small sum. Ecklund advised <br />that Ramsey County Sheriff Department has been notified <br />through Lt. Spencer. to watch the property very close ly. <br />Joe Prifrel, Agent Pursuant to Village Clerks letter of September 23, 1968, <br />Teamster's. Union #1l~9 Joe Prifrel, Agent for Teamsters Union #7J.~9 was present. <br />Res Fire _ An injunction from the State Labor Conciliator was received <br />Departments by the Council this afternoon. Black was of the opinio n <br />_ that such action was unnecessary and could not understan d <br />Prifrel~s taking the steps to have injunction brought o n <br />the Village Council. Prifrel stated his letter of Augu st 19 <br />1968 to Mayor Warkentien was not answered until September <br />17 and included no word about negotiating and the letter <br />
