Mannikko, Justice sota, appeared before the Council to recorr~nend for con- <br />of the Peace: sideration, the appo3.ntmeat of Joseph L. Mannikko, 17l~0 <br />West Larpea~teur Avenue, a second year law student as <br />Justice of the Peace, to fill. the vacancy created by the <br />resignation of D. Michael Noonan, for the Village of <br />Falcon Heights. <br />Stone moved that Joseph L. Manni.kko be app~93nted to serge <br />the unexpired term of D. M3.chael Noonan, as Justice of <br />the Peace, the term to expire on December 31, 1970. <br />Seconded by Taylor and motion carried. <br />Taylor adm3.nistered the Oath of Office to Joseph L.Mant~tko <br />as Justice of the Peace for the Village of Falcon He3.ghts. <br />Letter regarding Students Taylor read a letter from Jerzy Rich, 1791 Tatum Street, <br />Parking on Tatum Street: regarding Un3.versity of Minnesota students parking their <br />cars on Tatum Street north of Larpea:teur Avenue. Mr. R+och <br />thinks this is causing hazardous conditions.for residents <br />living on Tatum Street especially during heavy snow fall. <br />Ecklund will check with Mr. Ruch regarding this matter. <br />Public Employees Taylor read a letter from the PERA regarding del.3.nquency <br />Delinquency Letter: of payment from 1967-1968. The association wants payment <br />by December 31, 1969 or a 6~ interest rate will be charged. <br />Attorney Seed was authorized to study and recommend as to <br />proper disposition of the matter. <br />Letter to Minnesota Waxkentien moved that the Village Clerk be requested to <br />Connnerce Conanission: write to the Minnesota Commerce Commission in regard to <br />the authority of the Falcon Heights Bank to move to Roseville. <br />We are ca1.l.ing to the Com~mi.ssion's attention, the fact thi-t <br />we expect to replace the Falcon Heights State Bank with <br />another bank to serve our Village, and we want this fact <br />known so there will be no ob3ection by the Commission at a <br />later date to our opening another bank in the Village be- <br />cause of the proximity of the other banks in the area. If <br />the move of the bank to Roseville would mitigate against <br />our getting another bank, we would request that the move <br />be denied. Seconded by Black and motion carried. <br />Investments by Stone moved that the Village Treasurer be author3.zed to <br />Village Treasurer: invest the surplus sinking funds in short term treasury <br />bills and long term bonds and notes as recommended by the <br />Village Treasurer as per Exhibit ~~A~~. Seconded by <br />Warkentien and motion carried. <br />Hockey League Board: Warkentien moved that the Village appoint l~r. Thomas Mcaough, <br />1938 Summer Street, Mr. Donald K. Drach, 1877 Sheldon Street, <br />and Mr. Richard G. Thorp, 1929 Sumner Street, as representa- <br />tives of the Lauderdale-Falcon Heights Youth Hockey Board. <br />Seconded by Ecklund and motion carried. <br />
