-SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 5th, 1959. __. _.. ;. .. l~ieeting was called to order at 5:10 P. M., the following Council Members being present: Harold C. Nilsen, Mayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Will-is Warkentien, Trustee; Paul Coppini, Trustee and Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present were Vernon L. Ljungren, Village Engineer and Ethel E. White, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. Absent Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer. Driveway After discussion, it was moved by Utecht, seconded by Coppini and Hermes unanimously voted that the Village Engineer be authorized to furnish Greenhouse a letter to the County and State Highway Department to the effect that the Village has plans for the construction of Prior Avenue from Larpenteur Avenue North within a couple years and to request that the appropriate opening be left in the median strip. Water Main After discussion, it was moved by Nilsen, seconded by Shavor and Resolution unanimously voted that the following resolution be adopted: "RESOLVED That the St. Paul Water Department is hereby authorized to revise the Snelling Avenue Water Main to allow for the connection of the proposed 12" water main extending west on Larpenteur Avenue and that the Village of Falcon Heights hereby agrees to reimburse the St. Paul Water Department for its costs in doing this work es- timated to be approximately X2,250. as set-out iri the letter of the St. Paul Water Department dated June 26th, 1959." "RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Village of Falcon Heights purchase at cost from the St. Paul Water Department and hereby agrees to pay the St. Paul Water Department for the following materials: 1. Approximately 520 feet of 12 inch cast iron water main. 2. Two 12 inch gate valves with valve boxes. 3. One 12 inch by 6 inch tee with suitable plug." Two certified copies of the above resolution were given to Engineer Ljungren for presentation to the St. Paul Water Department. Ljungren's letter of August 5th to the Water Department was read. It stated they were delivering 2 sets of plans and specifications for the Larpenteur Avenue Water Main .Improvement and 2 executed copies of a resolution authorizing them to proceed with the work as shown on the above mentioned drawings. Ljungren's letter of August 5th addressed to Harry S. Bronson, County Engineer, was read. It stated he was attaching 2 sets of plans and specifications for the construction of watermain along Larpenteur Avenue to a point approximately 7261 east of Cleveland Avenue. Plans provide for main to be located 10 feet north of their south right-of- way line on Larpenteur from the east limits of the University property to Fairview Avenue and 10 feet south of their north right-of-way line from Fairview west to the Rose Hill Nursery property. The Village Council, at a special meeting of August 5th, 1959, authorized Milner W. Carley ~c Associates to contact Bronson, County Engineer, to make a re- quest for the use of the above mentioned right-of-way. Ljungren has contacted Robert Ashbach, of Ashbach Construction Company, regarding holding up finishing operations on the ditches in the locations men- tioned above until such time that the water main has been installed. ltgr.
