-SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 5th, 1959. __. _.. ;. .. <br />l~ieeting was called to order at 5:10 P. M., the following Council Members being <br />present: Harold C. Nilsen, Mayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Will-is Warkentien, <br />Trustee; Paul Coppini, Trustee and Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present were <br />Vernon L. Ljungren, Village Engineer and Ethel E. White, Deputy Clerk and Deputy <br />Treasurer. Absent Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer. <br />Driveway After discussion, it was moved by Utecht, seconded by Coppini and <br />Hermes unanimously voted that the Village Engineer be authorized to furnish <br />Greenhouse a letter to the County and State Highway Department to the effect <br />that the Village has plans for the construction of Prior Avenue from <br />Larpenteur Avenue North within a couple years and to request that <br />the appropriate opening be left in the median strip. <br />Water Main After discussion, it was moved by Nilsen, seconded by Shavor and <br />Resolution unanimously voted that the following resolution be adopted: <br />"RESOLVED That the St. Paul Water Department is hereby authorized <br />to revise the Snelling Avenue Water Main to allow for the connection <br />of the proposed 12" water main extending west on Larpenteur Avenue <br />and that the Village of Falcon Heights hereby agrees to reimburse <br />the St. Paul Water Department for its costs in doing this work es- <br />timated to be approximately X2,250. as set-out iri the letter of <br />the St. Paul Water Department dated June 26th, 1959." <br />"RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Village of Falcon Heights purchase at <br />cost from the St. Paul Water Department and hereby agrees to pay <br />the St. Paul Water Department for the following materials: <br />1. Approximately 520 feet of 12 inch cast iron water main. <br />2. Two 12 inch gate valves with valve boxes. <br />3. One 12 inch by 6 inch tee with suitable plug." <br />Two certified copies of the above resolution were given to Engineer <br />Ljungren for presentation to the St. Paul Water Department. <br />Ljungren's letter of August 5th to the Water Department was read. <br />It stated they were delivering 2 sets of plans and specifications <br />for the Larpenteur Avenue Water Main .Improvement and 2 executed <br />copies of a resolution authorizing them to proceed with the work <br />as shown on the above mentioned drawings. <br />Ljungren's letter of August 5th addressed to Harry S. Bronson, County <br />Engineer, was read. It stated he was attaching 2 sets of plans and <br />specifications for the construction of watermain along Larpenteur <br />Avenue to a point approximately 7261 east of Cleveland Avenue. Plans <br />provide for main to be located 10 feet north of their south right-of- <br />way line on Larpenteur from the east limits of the University property <br />to Fairview Avenue and 10 feet south of their north right-of-way line <br />from Fairview west to the Rose Hill Nursery property. The Village <br />Council, at a special meeting of August 5th, 1959, authorized Milner W. <br />Carley ~c Associates to contact Bronson, County Engineer, to make a re- <br />quest for the use of the above mentioned right-of-way. Ljungren has <br />contacted Robert Ashbach, of Ashbach Construction Company, regarding <br />holding up finishing operations on the ditches in the locations men- <br />tioned above until such time that the water main has been installed. <br />ltgr.
