SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 11th, 1959. <br />~~ ~~ <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:10, the following Council Members being present: <br />Herold C. Nilsen, Mayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Paul <br />Coppini, Trustee and Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present were Frank N. Graham, <br />Attorney; Vernon L. Ljungren, Village Engineer and Ethel E. White, Deputy Clerk and <br />Deputy Treasurer. Absent: Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer. <br />Water Main After checking bids and advertisement for bids, Attorney Graham <br />Extension advised the Council to reject all bids. <br />Utecht moved that all bids on the Water Main Extension and Pumping <br />Station be rejected and that the bid bonds be returned to the res- <br />pective bidders. Seconded by Shavor. .~ roll call vote was taken <br />which was recorded as follows: Nilsen, Atiye; Utecht, Aye; Shavor, <br />Aye; Warkentien, Aye. Coppini, No. <br />After discussion, it was moved by Utecht, seconded by Warkentien <br />and unanimously voted to adopt the following resolution: <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDERING ADVER- <br />TISEMENT FOR BIDS: <br />WHEREAS, The Village Engineer, at the request of the Village <br />Council, has prepared modified plans and specifications for the <br />improvement of Larpenteur Avenue between Snelling Avenue and a <br />point 726' East of the center line of Cleveland Avenue by the in- <br />stallation of the water main and appurtenances to comply with the <br />requirements of the Minnesota State Board of Health by the elimina- <br />tion of the underground pumping station and has presented such re- <br />vised plans and specifications to the Council for approval, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF FALCON <br />HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA: <br />1. Such plans and specifications, as so modified, a copy of which <br />have been filed in the office of the Village Clerk, are hereby <br />approved. <br />2. The Village Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in <br />the Rose Tribune an advertisement for bids for the making of such <br />improvement as per approved plans and specifications. This ad- <br />vertisement to be published on August 13th and August 20th, 1959, <br />shall specify the work to be done, shall state that bids will be <br />opened and considered by the Council at 7 P. M. on Monday, August <br />24th, 1959, in the Council Chambers in the Village Hall at 1644 W. <br />Larpenteur Avenue, and that no bids will be considered unless <br />sealed and filed with the Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, <br />cashier's check or certified check payable to the Village of Falcon <br />Heights in the amount of 10~ of such bid. <br />Minutes Ljungren asked that the words "As the lowest responsible bidder" <br />be deleted from the last line of paragraph 2 of page 1267. Coppini <br />said the words "As the lowest responsible bidder" should be added to <br />his resolution found in paragraph 3 on page 1267. <br />Adjournment On motion, the meeting adjourned at 7:15 P.
