1~ ~~ <br />SPECIAL MEETING 9/28/59 <br />The Special Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M., the following Council <br />Members being present: Harold C. Nilsen, Mayor; George Shavor, Trustee; <br />Willis VJarkentien, Trustee and Wm, R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present were Frank <br />N. Graham, Village Attorney; Vernon L. Ljungren, Village Engineer and Ethel <br />E. V`~(hite, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. Absent: Paul Coppini, Trustee <br />and Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer. <br />Water Due to the fact that quite a few people are interested in <br />Testing having their pump water tested, the Council has agreed that any <br />samples delivered to the Village Hall with a payment of X5.00, <br />will be taken to the Testing Laboratory by the Policeman for <br />analysis and report. <br />Hearing Fry There were about 11 people present. During the discussion <br />Street A..ttorney Graham advised that we are constructing the line along <br />Watermain Larpenteur, but due to the fact that we had had to change our <br />plans from an under-ground pumping station to an above-ground <br />station at a considerable increase in cast, and were having <br />difficulty obtaining a suitable location, the pump and station <br />might not be started until next Spring, maybe not until next <br />June or July. Korstad, chairman for the Maple Knoll Group <br />advised that the P~aple Knoll Residents wouldn't be able to <br />derive any benefits without the Pumping Station and they would <br />prefer to hold up on their offer to the Fry Street Residents <br />until the Pump and Pumping Station were installed. This was <br />agreeable to the z~eonle on Fry Street. <br />Utecht moved that, in view of the situation with respect to <br />the pump and pumping station, the Hearing on the Extension of <br />the Watermain on Fry Street be terminated. and this proj2ct <br />dropped for the time being. Seconded by Shavor and unanimously <br />carried. <br />Melvin Spiegler of the Spiegler Construction Company stated <br />they are anxious to have the watermain laid on Fry Street far <br />enough up to take care of their last building. <br />Connection <br />Charges <br />1 <br />V~arkentien moved that Engineer Ljungren be authorized to negotiate <br />a Change Order with Herbst Construction Company to-have the <br />watermain extended approximately 307'. north on Fry Street, and to <br />authorize the work to be done upon the deposit with the Village <br />of a certified check to cover the cost of the extension, plus <br />10~ for legal, engineering and other expenses. Seconded by <br />Shavor and unanimously carried. <br />After discussion, upon the recommendation of Engineer Ljungren, <br />Shavor moved that the water line connection charges be set as E~;~' <br />follows: d <br />1:" meter ~;1i5 ~ 00 <br />12'- meter 265.00 <br />2p" meter 170.00 <br />3" meter 1080.00 <br />Seconded by Vdarken tien and unanimously carried. <br />~'` . ,~ <br />~~ ~~~L:• <br />.;. ~ ~~ <br />~~ ~ ~ <br />Salaries There was a discussion regarding salaries of the Police and <br />Fire Departments. No definite decision was reached. <br />
