THE SPECIAL
Vacation 12' HEARING ON THE PETITION OF JOHN O'KEEFE AND OTHERS REQU~~,STING
Lane Albert THE COUNCIL TO VACATE THE 12' PdIDE DEDICATED LANE V~`HICH RUNS FROTd
to Holton HOLTON TO AL3ERT STREET, A 3OUT 600 FEET NOP.TH OF LARPENTEUR AND
JUST SOUTH OF LOTS 10 and 11 IN KEI;LEP. ^?ANOR j~~~AS CALIED TO ORDER
AT 7sl~0.
?:Mayor Nilsen read copy of Notice as published and posted.
Attorney Harold Swenson, 1100 Pioneer '31dg., St. Paul, spoke in
behalf of the petitioners. He stated that while the lane in
question is actually a 12' wide dedicated Public Lane, the Village
has never maintained it. The prox~erty owners have paid for crushed
rock, plowed the snow, etc. Tha± while there are "No Thorofare"
signs at both ends there are no "Stop Signs". Cars and trucks go
through the alley at a good speed and do not stop before entering
Albert or Holton which is dangerous. The alley is not wide enough
to Hermit cars to Hass each other. There is a great chance of
collision with other people. A lane should. be a minimum of 20'
wide to Hermit vehicles. He believes this lane should be vacated
or, at the very least, confined to use as a walkway.
'~~Rayor Nilsen Does anyone want to sneak for or against the vacation?
"~?~r. Salminen I think the Attorney has coveNed the problem pretty well.
Utecht How do you expect to keep vehicles from going through even if it
were vacated?
