~i~ <br />Roof Quotation on repairing the roof of the fire station from Roofings, Inc. <br />was read. The Dlerk was instructed to get two more bids. <br />Police Complaint regarding pine tree obstructing view from the alley <br />between Idaho and California at Pascal was reported and the <br />Deputy Clerk instructed to ask the Police Department to check <br />the desirability of its removal as a safety measure. <br />Playground Attorney Galvin reported that under the terms of the general <br />Equipment welfare power, it would be proper for the Village of Falcon <br />Heights to conduct a public recreational hockey program and <br />expend municipal funds for the support and maintenance of said <br />program which would include the purchase of 3erseys to be used <br />by players but to remain Village property and to be turned in <br />at the end of the season. <br />Bids At 8 P. M. Mayor Nilsen moved that the regular Council meeting <br />be recessed and that the bids be accepted. He asked if there <br />was anyone in the audience who had a bid he had not laid upon <br />the table. There being none, Nilsen moved that the letting be <br />closed. Seconded by Coppini anti carried. <br />.Arona Avenue Mayor Nilsen opened the Hearing on the proposed improvement <br />of Arona Avenue from Larpenteur to Cranford by reconstruction <br />consisting of sub-base, base and bituminous surfacing and the <br />installation of storm sewers and concrete curbs and gutters. <br />Engineer Lemberg displayed plans aryd advised that the Council <br />proposed assessing ad3oining property owners ~3.5o per running <br />foot for concrete curbs and gutters. Lemberg also advised they <br />proposed to remove the present base, replace it with suitable <br />sub-base and base material, lay a 9 ton bituminous surface, <br />install storm sewers and curbs and guttdrs. <br />The property owners present, Mrs. C. F. P®terson,~1522 Crawford, <br />Mr. Victor Cook, 15].6 Crawford and Harold Lidbom representing <br />Bethel College, were asked if they had any questions or comments. <br />Mrs. Peterson W'e will have more cracks if we get a curb. We will have it only <br />down-the side of the lot where it won't do much good. It won't <br />do much good to fix the street if they continue to let the big <br />trucks travel on it. l~hen you come down Crawford, we will get <br />it again. <br />Lemberg Cranford, East of Arona, isn't set up as a State Aid Street. <br />Mrs. Peterson How mar~r bids did you get on the curbing? If we got bids ourselves, <br />maybe we could get it cheaper. <br />Lemberg I doubt that. This is a State Aid Project. Each item in the bid <br />must be let under one contract. <br />Nilsen Mrs. Peterson, you will recall the storm sewer hearing we had <br />after the sewer was put i~, I think you realize the problems we <br />have had with drainage. It should be improved. A lot of other <br />people have come to the Council with requests for curbs and <br />1 <br />1 <br />
