172lt <br />. ~2~GtJLAR, MEETINtt3 2/21/62 <br />Meeting was called to order at 7 P. M,, the following Council Members being <br />presents Harold C. Nilsen, Mayor; Charles P. Stone, Trustee; Willis Warken- <br />tien, Trustee; George J. Shavor, Trustee; W. A. Mortenson, Clerk. Also present <br />were M. J. Galvin, Village Attorney; Wm. E. 41sen, Treasurer and Ethal E. White, <br />Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. <br />It was moved by Stone, seconded by Mortenson and voted that the Minutes of the <br />February 15th me®ting be approved as submitted. <br />Requisitions It was moved by Stone, seconded by Nilsen and voted to approve <br />requisition X175 for chamois, batteries, mop heads and wiping rags. <br />Mail Boxes: The Deputy Clerk was instructed to call the Post Office and see if <br />there was any reason why the mail boxes couldn~t be placed on <br />the West side of Fairview. <br />Civil Defenses Letter from the Ramsey County Civil Defense regarding fall-out <br />shelters was read, locations checked and list mailed to Tolt$, <br />King, Duval, Anderson and Associates. Letter ,pertaining to the <br />Federal matching portion of Civil Defense expenditures was read <br />and filed far future reference. <br /> Trees: Mayor Nilsen read Dr. Hard's suggested program for street trees. <br /> The Council feels it is a sound program and Mayor Nilsen will <br /> discuss it with Dr. Hard. <br /> Ramsey Co. Mayor Nilsen moved the appointment of Trustee Shavor and Clerk <br /> League of Mortenson as delegates of Falcon Heights to consider the forma- <br /> Municipal- tion of the Ramsey County League of Municipalities at the meeting <br /> ities: to be held at the Shoreview Village Hall February 28, 1962. <br /> Seconded by Stone and carried. <br /> Parking and 'ihere was a discussion. regarding parking abutting multiple <br /> Traffic dwellings. Warkentien and Commissioner Arndt will check into <br /> Control: the advisability of restricting parking to one side of the street <br /> in certain areas. <br /> Snow-plowing Mayor Nilsen called the County regarding plowing the alleys and <br /> .Alleys was advised that the County cannot do it - their equipment is too <br /> big in many cases and they have all they can do to keep the <br /> streets in good condition during bad weather. <br /> Sinking Attorney Galvin advised he is expecting to hear from B. B. Knopp <br /> Funds: of the First National Bank with recommendations for investment of <br /> the surplus funds in the sinking fund accounts. <br /> Fencing, Attorney Galvin reported he has checked into the matter but that <br /> Snell-Idaho: it needs further study and he will report later. <br /> Variance, After discussion, it was awed by Warkentien, seconded by Stone <br /> S. I~. Burke: and voted to adopt the following resolution: <br /> WHEREAS Dr. S. M. Burke has applied for a variance permit for <br />' lot 8, block 2, Auditor's Sub-Division X90 to reduce the minimum <br /> requirements of Ordinance 61t of the Village of Falcon Heights of <br /> side-lot and front-lot set-backs, minianun lot size and front-lot <br />
