I:ROrtenson, Clerk; Charles P. <br />Stone, Trustee. Also present were M. J. Galvin, Village Attorney; Brad <br />Lemberg, ~Iillage Engineer; V'dm. E. Olsen, Treasurer and ~,thel E. Vlhite, Deputy <br />Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. .Absent: Trustees Shavor and '~nar'~centien. <br />On -notion by "_.4ortenson, seconded by Nilsen, the minutes of the Special `~Reet- <br />ing of October 17th were approved as submitted. <br />Special ';~ayor Nilsen advised that Frank Stanton of Stanton-Pittlekow <br />Informal Rc-Associates, management consultants, completed the survey <br />TQeeting: of Fire and Police department salaries and will be present to <br /> discuss same at 7:30 P. ?{., November 1st, with any members <br /> of the council who can be present. <br />License: .All requirements having been met, it was moved by Nilsen, <br /> seconded by Stone and voted to approve Master Gas Installers <br /> License: #168 for Tony Ferro, dba Standard He~+,ing Co., 169. <br /> Selby a.ve., St. Paul, ~,?innesota. <br />Fire Dept.: Letters from Dr. Duane Ausman certifying that Lloyd W. Siewert <br /> apd Edward Eicher are in good physical condition and. can par- <br /> ticipate in the duties and activities of the Falcon Heights <br />Volunteer Fire Department, were read. It was moved by Stone, <br /> seconded by Nilsen and voted to approve Siewert and Eichert:as <br /> probationary members of the volunteer fire department for six <br /> months, after which the fi-re department is to refer them back <br /> to the council with their recommendations as to regular mem- <br /> bership in the fire department. <br />Telephone It was moved by Nilsen, seconded by P~dortenson and voted to <br />cable; approve application of the N. ~~;. Bell Telephone Company to <br /> place a 'ouried cable on Tatum Street from Larpenteur Avenue <br /> North for a distance of 150', subject to inspection by the <br /> Village Engineer. <br />Parks and Play- It was moved by Nilsen, seconded by Stone and voted to <br />grounds: authorize Al Helbig to purchase enough 2 x 8s to enclose the <br /> pleasure skating rinks at Falcon Heights School and the <br /> Idaho-Snelling Playground. <br />Trees: Wm. t~.~orin was present. He submitted letters of recommendation <br /> from the University of Minnesota and showed his St. Paul <br /> License and his insurance policy. He also submitted his <br /> written proposal with Writes based on hauling cut out branches <br /> to Pig's Eye. If a chipper can be obtained from the University <br /> of Minnesota or if arrangements can be made to burn the <br /> material on either the Fair Grounds or University property, <br /> the price should be less.
