Nilsen, A,4ayor; George Shavor, Trustee; <br />Charles Stone, Trustee; 1r~. A. ':~Zortenson, Clerk; and Willis ~Aiarkentien, <br />Trustee. Also present were Brad Lemberg, Village Engineer; I~. J. Galvin, <br />Village attorney and Ethel E. ~"Thite, Deputy Clerk and Lienuty Treasurer. <br />V~arming House: Engineer Lemberg showed plans for the contemplated warming <br />house to be located at Idaho-Snellinp~, same to be 16 x 20', <br />concrete block construction, v~ralls to be 8" light blocks, <br />wood doors with aluminum kick plates, windows to be pro- <br />tected by screen inside and outside, forced air gas heater <br />' up in corner. <br />After discussion, it was moved by Warkentien, seconded by <br />Stone and voted to adopt the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to resolution of the council adopted <br />October 26, 1962, a report has been prepared by Bonestroo, <br />Rosene ~ ~!.ssociates with reference to the construction of <br />a warming house at, the Idaho-Snelling Playground and this <br />report tr~as received by the council on November 7, 1962 <br />Nom( THL_RF~'ORE, 3E IT ~'.LSOLVED BY THE VI?LACE COUI~?CIL OF <br />FALCON HEIGHTS, °1I'''~:?IOTA: <br />1. The council will consider the construction of a concrete <br />block warming house for the use of the Vi1_lage of Falcon <br />Heights for recrea+„ional x~urnoses at the Snelling-Idaho <br />recreational area in and for the Vi7.lage of Falcon Heights, <br />i~.~innesota, according to plans and specifications on file <br />in the office of the Village Clerk. <br />?_. The engineer is authorized to advertise for bids to <br />be published in the Villafie official newspaper, the Rose <br />Tribune, November 1~., 1962. <br />3. Bids wi,~l 'oe received November 26th, 1962, at 10 A. ~:4. <br />Fire dept. Albert J. Helbig, Fire Chief, was present. He said it was <br />the feeling of the Fire Department that the 1K years of service <br />required before a 3 week vacation was granted should be cut <br />to ten years. The Fire Department also feels they should <br />have a uniform allowance. <br />Civil Defense: Leo Vteet, Civil Defense Director was present: He advised <br />the Village has authorized shelter space for 4,589 people <br />outside of the University property. The University has the <br />capacity to shelter 3,122 persons. However, he has not <br />had time to make final arrangements wi±h the University. <br />Attorney Galvin will contact Attorney Tierney of the Univer- <br />sity on this matter. ~'deet advised that shelter supplies <br />will soon be available and he will see that the approved <br />buildings are stocked. The work is getting to be more <br />
