MINUTES <br />AUGUST 12, 1987 <br />PAGE 2 <br />VARIANCE REQUEST FROM DEAN SCHWALM, 1725 ASBUR~, TO CONSTRUCT A 9 FOOT <br />HIGH PRIVACY FENCE REFERRED TO PLANNING COMMISSION FOR FURTHER STUDY <br />Wallin informed that the Planning Commission unanimously denied the <br />request for a nine foot fence as they felt it would be detrimental to <br />abuting property on Snelling Avenue. Mr. Schwalm explained the fence will <br />not be placed on the lot line, but on the top of a deck he plans to <br />construct in his back yard. He indicated the fence would actuallq be <br />seven and one-half feet in height and only twenty-two feet in length. <br />Following a discussion Wallin moved, seconded by Chenoweth, that based on <br />this new information, the Planning Commission be requested to review the <br />matter again, with the suggestion that they might consider the reduced <br />length of the fence as a trade off for the additional height. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />FINAL PAYMENT TO ORFEI CONTRACTING, INC. FOR AROMA WATERMAIN CONSTRUCTION <br />APPROVED <br />Chenoweth moved, seconded by Wallin, adoption of Resolution R-87-31. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION R-87-31 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FINAL PAYMENT OF $59,135.76 <br />TO ORFEI CONTRACTING, INC. FOR THE 1987 AROMA AVENUE <br />WATERMAIN IMP80VEMENT <br />SALE OF 1974 FORD 1 TON TRUCK APPROVED <br />Wiessner explained two bids have been received on the truck, one for <br />$750.00 and one for $800.00, after which Council authorized sale of the <br />truck (AS IS) to Ray Brown for $800.00. <br />ANIMAL CONTROL <br />Wiessner explained the animal control firm serving Falcon Heights is going <br />out of business and staff is checking into possible alternatives. <br />HEARING ON DELINQUENT UTILITY CHARGES SCHEDULID FOR 7:15 P/M., 9/9/87 <br />Council agreed to schedule the hearing on delinquent utility charges for <br />September 9, 19fi7, 7:15 P.M. <br />CITY TO APPEAL 3Z LEVY LIMIT <br />Wiessner informed she and Baldwin attended an imf ormational meeting <br />regarding procedures for appealing the 3X levy limit established by the <br />State Legislature, and stressed any appeal must be Wade by August 21st. <br />Council discussed the matter briefly of ter which Chenoweth moved, seconded <br />by'Wallin, authorizing filing of a formal appeal to the 3X levy limit. <br />BUDGET WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR 9/2/87, 6:30 P.K. <br />Council scheduled a budget workshop for 6:30 P.M., September 2, 1987. <br />64 <br />
