MINUTES <br />JANUARY 13, 1988 <br />PAGE 4 <br />SOLID WASTE COMMISSION TO BE APPOINTED <br />~'* Baldwin explained he feels it is time to appoint a commission to continue <br />„r„J the work started by the original Solid Waste Advisory Committee and he <br />will meet with some of those persons to establish duties and determine the <br />appropriate number of members for the commission. <br />PART TIME RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICE DIRECTOR TO BE HIRED <br />Council reviewed the proposed job description and recommendations on <br />budgeting for the position. Bush explained that the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission recommended that Recreation be added to the job title and that <br />two Commission Members, one Cable Access Member, the Community School <br />Coordinator, Council Liaison, and Clerk Administrator participate in the <br />interviews. Council agreed on the changes in the job description and <br />recommended changes in the 1988 budget. The position will be advertised <br />in the City Newsletter, local papers, and League of Cities Magazine. <br />POLICY REGARDING RETIRED CITY EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATING IN HEALTH BENEFIT <br />PROGRAM DEFERRED TO 1/27/88 <br />Council briefly discussed the matter and requested Wiessner to contact <br />Ramsey County (City employees are included in the County health plan) to <br />see if rates charged the City will increase if retirees are allowed to <br />continue or if there is an increased rate retirees could pay if allowed to <br />continue. The matter will be discussed further at the January 27th <br />meeting. <br />WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR 1/20/88 TO DISCUSS GORTNER/LARPENTEUR/PRIOR <br />INTERSECTION <br />Engineer Terry Maurer presented plans prepared by the Ramsey County <br />Engineers proposing various configurations to remedy the traffic hazard at <br />the Gortner/Larpenteur/Prior intersection. Following a discussion Council <br />scheduled a workshop for 4:00 P.M., January 20th at Hewlett Packard (HP <br />had previously offered to host the meeting). The workshop will be <br />attended by representatives of the University of Minnesota, Ramsey County, <br />Hewlett Packard and the City. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Council adjourned the meeting at 9:20 P.M. <br />Following the meeting a closed executive session was held to discuss the <br />Bullseye and Baehr litigations. <br />Tom Baldwin, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />~~ <br />J t R.
