MINUTES <br />MARCH 8, 1989 <br />PAGE 2 <br />NO PRESENTATION GIVEN ON NORTHWEST YOUTH SERVICES <br />The Northwest Youth Services representative was not in <br />attendance to give the presentation. <br />WALLIN ARRIVES <br />Wallin arrived at 7:10 P. M. <br />$2,500 DONATION TO AMBULANCE FUND PRESENTED BY LOCAL LIONS CLUB <br />Sam Jacobs, representing the Falcon Heights/Lauderdale Lions <br />Club, gave a brief presentation on the purpose and goals of <br />Lions International, after which a check for $2,500 was <br />presented to the City to be used toward replacement of the City <br />ambulance. Mayor Baldwin and Fire/Rescue members Jay McNabb and <br />Ross Berndt accepted the check on behalf of the City. <br />CITY TO PARTICIPATE IN FUNDING OF EMERGENCY VEHICLE PRE-EMPTION <br />SYSTEM AT LARPTENTEUR/HAMLINE INTERSECTION <br />Council briefly discussed participation in the proposed traffic <br />signal revision and Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption System <br />installation at Larpenteur and Hamline, after which Ciernia <br />moved authorization of an expenditure of $3,988.78 from the <br />Street Department Capital Outlay Account. Motion carried <br />unanimously. Council also concurred that pre-emption equipment <br />should be installed in the squad car. <br />UPDATE ON HAMLINE AVENUE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT (LARPENTEUR TO <br />COUNTY RD B) - INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR RESIDENTS SCHEDULED FOR <br />4/12/89 <br />Madigan reviewed the Maier Stewart letter dated Feburary 21, <br />1989 and requested that Council determine whether or not Falcon <br />Heights is interested in a sidewalk/pathway on the west side of <br />Hamline from Roselawn to Larpenteur (Roseville is contemplating <br />such a pathway). Council was of the opinion that it would be <br />useful as a link to Como Park, Ramsey County Library, and local <br />shopping centers, however, they would need to see the projected <br />cost of such an installation prior to making any decision. They <br />also felt that the residents should be given an update, and <br />scheduled an informational meeting for 7:30 P. M. on April 12, <br />1989. <br />BULLSEYE PLAZA PARKING ITEM WITHDRAWN FROM AGENDA <br />Item F(6), Bullseye Shopping Center Parking Variance Request, <br />was withdrawn from the agenda due to the fact that the Planning <br />Commission did not have complete information and could not make <br />a recommendation. The Commission will address the matter at a <br />Special Meeting on March 20th. <br />1988 PLANNING PROJECT SUMMARY <br />David Black, Planning Commission Chairman, thanked Council for <br />
