1 <br />Action on Imhoff delayed George ~war_son inquired as to whether or not the council had <br />to May 31 reached a decision regarding the employment of Imhoff as as- <br />sistant fire chief. Action on this was postponed to May 31. <br />Conference with O'Hearn Matteaon reported on the conference he and Harry Anderson had <br />with T. L. O'Hearn, t!. of Minn. real estate manager. Matteaon <br />read a memo addressed to O'Hearn from Middlebrook advising that <br />the Board of Regents had voted to authorize a lease to the <br />Village of Falcon Hts. of the property located on Larpenteur <br />immediately WCat of the Farmers JJnion Grain Terminal garage, <br />said lease to contain the followin? provisions: <br />1. Rental of X15. per year <br />2. Feriod of 15 years with option of one renewal for 15 yrs. <br />3. Approval by the university of improvements. <br />4. Maintenance of the area in a condition satisfactory to <br />the university <br />5. A re-zoning of ad~ecent Larperteur frontage from residence <br />class 1 to business use. <br />5. Re-zoning of the balance of Larperteur frontage and Bnell- <br />ing avenue frontage. <br />Matteson reported that after the conference he called Middlebrook <br />reaardin.~ a longer term lease. Middlebrook was not interested in <br />extending the time o° trc lease but: a~'ter considerable discussion <br />said he would be agreeable to a secon3 option for ren~-wa1 but <br />with. an increase in rental cost. It was the general feeling of <br />the council members that a ?~0 ,year lease was not lon^; enough and <br />• that the ce~.incil could not, accent a lease which carried any pro- <br />visions regarding re-coning. Lindig was asked to consult Further <br />with Middlebrook to attemJ;t to obtain a 1CaaC which wcr_ild be ac- <br />ceptable. <br />Possible purchase of Matteson also reported on his meeting with Mr. ,Nilson regarding <br />tAilson property the purchase of approximately 7 lots near Snelling ~_ Hoyt, which <br />property i3 being; used at t~is time as a storage place for sur- <br />face water.
