Bids for Fire Truck <br />Hearing <br />Petition <br />Mr. Altman asked that Parcel B be rezoned for parking only and <br />that Parcels A & C be rezoned residence B. He further suggested <br />that 5 or 6 duplexes be built along Arona facing Arona. This <br />would leave two lots in back of the proposed duplexes open, In- <br />asmuch as the council was considering purchasing land for use as <br />a playground, it was the suggestion of Mr. Altman that the council <br />purchase these two lots for that purpose. The purchase price <br />was approximately X3,000. <br /> Matteson po.~ttted out .that the villager v~4,~- in n~ `pos~,iz~h-ate '~!,=t , ~~' <br /> chase the lots for a playground due to committments previously <br /> made. Altman asked for a postponement of the. hearing until Aug- <br />. ust 2 to see..... if the people he represented could dispose of these <br /> two lots. Matteson pointed out the council wished to act on of ~~' <br /> 3 parcels and on the drainage and attempt to find a solution on~ <br /> the over-all and not try to settle them one at a time. Stepnit~,~~~ <br /> was agreeable to the extension of time. The hearing was postponed s <br /> to Tuesday evening, August 2, at 8:00 p. m. ': ~,,,~ <br />/ <br />Plbing and Heating Buetow reported that certain changes were made in the plumbing ~ <br />Bids reopened ~ and heating specifications. "It was Frank Grahams recommendation <br /> that the bids be reopened. Upon his recommendation, Shavor <br /> moved the adoption of the following resolution, seconded by Rys- <br /> gaard: RESOLVED, that the bids received covering the plumbing <br /> and heating work for the proposed village hall and fire station <br /> be rejected and that the deputy clerk be and he hereby is directed <br /> to notify the bidders of this action, and RESOLVED FURTHER, that <br /> the Deputy Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed to <br /> readvertise for bids for plumbing and heating for the combined <br /> village hall and fire station and that the bids be opened and <br /> considered at a meeting of the council to be held Tuesday, <br /> July 26, 1949 at 7:30 p.m. Motion carried. <br />Resolution Authorizing Upon recommendation by Frank Graham, Shavor moved the adoption <br />Adjustments in Contract of the following resolution: <br /> WFIEREAS, the Council of the Village of Falcon Heights authorized <br />~:: <br />Weber & Troseth 22~ X1.38 per ft. 12++ X0.99 per ft. <br />No certified check <br />The bids for the fire truck were opened and they are as follows: <br />Mack International Motor Truck Corp., X13,430 (ck. for X550) <br />Flour City Body Corp. Ward LaFrance Truck, X12,495 (ck. for X400) <br />Minnesota F.I.D. Co.m X12,995 (ck for X400) <br />Minnesota Fire Equipment Co. X10,743 (ck for X335) <br />General Truck & Equip. Co. X13,950 (ck for X450) <br />The council asked Harry Anderson and George Swanson to go over <br />the bids and report back to the council with their recommendations. <br />on Stepnitz The hearing on the petition filed by Mr. Stepnitz was continued. <br />Continued. Stepnitz stated that he had met with Mr. Altman who had made cer- <br />taro suggestions to him regarding the development of the property <br />under question. He was willing to go along with the residents <br />provided the drainage problem were once and for all taken care of. <br />He had been asked to compromise to the extent of rezoning the <br />property along Arona to residence B which would permit the build- <br />ing of duplexes. Mr. Stepnitz felt that if that were done he could <br />not put in the culvert along Arona. <br />
