Graham, Attorney <br />Meeting called to order at 7:40 pm., and minutes of March 14 meeting approved <br />as read. <br />1 <br />1 <br />Rees requests <br />building permit <br />for appliance <br />store. <br />Suggests alley <br />be opened. <br />Propose placing <br />cable on posts <br />along Snelling <br />Drive. <br />Permit question <br />referred to <br />oommittee. <br />Widen Fry Street <br />proposed. <br />.. <br />Referred to <br />Street Commissioner. <br />Mr. Lee Vocker, of the Sebco Construction Company, 1011 Curry <br />Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota, representing Douglas Rees, <br />presented plans and speoifications to the counoil, on a pro- <br />po sad appliance store building, 20x33, to be located on <br />Larpenteur east of the Falcon Heights Bakery. Discussion <br />followed as to size and general construction of the building, <br />parking needs, drainage and sewer. Mr. Rees said their plan <br />is to end up with a similar small building on Larpentaur near <br />Snelling where the root beer stand is located at present. <br />Referring to employes parking their cars all day in the <br />business area on Larpenteur, Mr. Reest suggested that if the <br />alley could be opened, he would provide for parking employes' <br />cars on his property between the alley and the minature go1Q <br />oourse. Mr. Carl Keller expressed concern over the parking <br />problem, and Mr. Ken Hanson, of the Falcon Heights Bakery <br />stated that iP the alley could be opened up so as to provide <br />for parking, it would certainly help matters. Question of <br />placing cable on posts along Snelling Drive between ~arpenteur <br />and the minature gold course was referred to the Public Safety <br />Commissioner. Mr. Rees said they would have cable and posts <br />placed on their side. The matter of granting a permit for <br />the proposed store building was, on motion by Henry, seoonded <br />by Lindig, referred to a committee consisting Trustees Shavor <br />and Rekstad and Building Inspector Reiohow, with request to <br />bring in their reoommendations at the next meeting. <br />Charles E. Nieman, Attorney, appeared in behalf of Mr. and <br />Mrs. N. L. Hermes and other residents on Fry Street in con- <br />nection with proposal to widen said street, which is now 33 ft. <br />wide, and to connect cross street to St Marys. ~(r. Nieman <br />referred to disoussions with and hearin gs held by the Town <br />Board on this matter in 1948, and to postponement requested <br />by Mr. Walter Magee, the owner of a 12-foot strip situated <br />between the Hermes and Kroemer traots, through whioh the <br />proposed widened road will pass. Mr. Nieman said they can <br />get no action Prom Magee on the 12-foot strip needed, and <br />asserted that the Pillage has the power to aoquire or <br />oondemn the strip in question. After discussion, Shavor moved <br />that application for widening r'ry Street and for connecting <br />Dross street to St Marys be referred to our Street Commissioner <br />for investigation and report, including ohecking grade. <br />Seconded by Lindig and oarried. <br />
