Graham, Attorney <br />~ B~eeting was called to order at 7:40 P.bd. The Bdayor stated <br />~ the Aaeeting was called for the purpose of considering whether or not the Fire Chief',F <br />should be removed from office in view of recent developments in the Fire DeparWtment. <br />~' He s'+~.ated that Fire Chief Swanson had been given written notice of the meeting with ~ ` <br />the request to be .present, and that this meeting constituted the fair and impattti{a.l ._ <br />hearing provided for in Ordinance No. 1. ~ ~ <br />Attorney Graham acted for the Village and Attorney Don v. <br />Hinrichs represented Fire Chief Swanson. <br />Orrin G. Morse, who worked as 2nd assistant fire chief from <br />April 26, 1951 to about June 9, 1951, and Harold Imhoff, lst assistant firs chief, <br />as well as most of. the volunteer firemen were present and took part in the dis- <br />cussion. Questions with reference t o incompatibility between the Chief grad the <br />assistant chiefs, working conditions under Fire Chief Swanson, the work schedule, <br />hiring of sleepers, fire inspections, admittance of council members to the Fire <br />Station, and general operation of the Fire Department, were discussed by all con- <br />cerned, including volunteers. John Rysgaard and George Nelson spoke in behalf <br />of Fire Chief Swanson. <br />At the termination of the hearing, sand after some discussion, <br />Rekstad moved, seconded by Lindig, that Fire Chief Swanson not be removed from <br />office. On roll call, the following vote was asst: <br />Ayes: Henry, Shavor, Lindig, Rekstad, Stewart <br />Nays: None <br />The Mayor then declared the Fire Chief not removed from office by a unanimous vote. <br />Adjournment: On motion, tha meeting adjourned at 11:30 P.M. <br />Approved: `~ <br />C1 <br />
