Stewart, Cler k <br />Ralph Van Hoven, Treasurer <br />Frank N. Graham, Attorney <br />Meeting called to order at 7:40 P.M. and minutes of regular <br />meeting, Sep tember 11, 1951, and of Special meeting, September 19, 1951, were <br />heard and approved as read. <br />Falcon Heights R. J. Stenberg, 1540 Crawford, appeared before the Council <br />Dry Cleaners again in connection with nuisance condition and possible <br />health hazard involving operations of the Falcon Heights <br />Dry Cleaners plant. Letter of September 11, 1951, from <br />F.L. ~roodward, of the Minnesota Department of Health, University <br />Campus, reporting on their investigation of these matters was <br />read. Mr. Stenberg was also informed of Attorney Graham's <br />and Trustee Lindig's meeting with Mr. Douglas Rees on September <br />18th, and progress being made towards having these and other <br />conditions corrected. <br />1952 Fire Andrew Hustrulid, Chairman, Fire Protection Committee, presented <br />Dept. budget the written recommendation of his Committee as t o financial <br />needs of the Fire Department for 1952 with list showing details - <br />amounts requested being X14,065.00 for Fire ;d[aintenance and X1,509.00 <br />for Fire Equipment. <br />L. & L. Building Inspector Reichow reported that certain construction work <br />Appliance had been started without a building permit by the D. A. P7elson <br />Addition Construction Company, Inc. and the Associated Investors in connection <br />with providing additional storage space ire the rear of the L. & L. <br />Appliance Shop. Mr. Nelson; ,of the Construction Company, being <br />present, was asked to explain their action in starting construction <br />before securing a building permit. Rekstad then moved that if the <br />footings and foundation satisfy the building inspector and comply <br />with building codes, that the permit be granted to the Associated <br />Investors for additional storage in the rear of the L. & L. Appliance <br />Store, but that no additional construction be permitted until after <br />the inspection. Seconded by Lindig and carried by a unanimous vote. <br />In this connection, the clerk was asked to write Mr. Stepnitze, of <br />the Associated Investors, and the D.A. Nelson Construction Company, <br />that any further violation of the code would be prosecuted under <br />the provisions of Ordinance No. 3. - <br />Pedestrian Public Safety Committee Chairman,-Don Arndt, reported on the <br />Crosswalk traffic hazard involving shoppers crossing Larpenteur in the <br />business area, and su~~estion of Mr. '~~linfrey, of the Falcon Heights <br />Commercial Club, that a pedestrian cross-walk be painted across <br />Larpenteur as a temporary safety measure. After discussion, Arndt <br />was asked to consult the County Safety Engineer regarding the matter. <br />
