~~~ <br />Value, As to placing a value on dormitory quarters occupied by the <br />dormitory two paid firemen; Henry moved that it is the opinion of the <br />quarters council that the sleepers are required to sleep in these <br />quarters to comply with the Fire Underwriters requirements, <br />and are deemed to be sleeping there for the benefit and con- <br />venience of the Village in fighting fires, and that no value <br />should be placed on use of these quarters at this time. <br />Seconded by Rekstad and carried unanimously. <br />Centrifugal Rekstad reported that a centrifugal pump suitable for Village <br />pump use would cost about X340.00. He also reported that a pump of <br />this type delivered could be rented at X7.00 per day from the <br />Olson Equipment Company of Minneapolis. <br />Sickle bar Proposal for purchase of a sickle bar mower for cutting weeds <br />mower on Village property was co nsi dared and referred to Rekstad <br />for checking. <br />Heating The clerk reported on a number of public huilding heating <br />contractors contractors recommended by city engineer offices in St Paul <br />and Minneapolis. These were referred to Rekstad who will <br />contact them regarding the oo st of improving the Village Hal l <br />and Fire Station heating system. <br />Larpenteur Henry moved that the proposed assessorent list prepared by the <br />Avenue curbing County Engineer and Village Clerk for the Larpenteur Avenue <br />hearing curbing project be filed with the Village Clerk and open to <br />public inspection, and that the clerk publish notice in accordance <br />with the statute that the council will pass on said assessments <br />at 8:30 P.M., at its regular meeting, Tuesday, October 14, 1952. <br />Seconded by Stewart and carried unanimously. <br />Village sign The Mayor reported receiving word from the Street Commissioner <br />missing that one of the new Village entrance signs reading, "Village of <br />Falcon Heights, Cross Roads to Convenience," had been removed <br />with the two steel posts holding it in place at Fulham and <br />Roselawn, presumably during the night of August 25th.. <br />1953 After discussion, Henry moved that a special meeting for the <br />Budget purpose of setting up the 1953 budget be held in the Village <br />.Hall, Thursday evening, September 4, 1952, beginning at 7:00 P.M. <br />Stewart seconded and motion oarried unanimously. <br />Tax Receipts Treasurer Van Hoven reported that the May tax settlement for <br />period March 1, 1952 to May 31, 1952, amounted to $23,34?.70; <br />that the liquor tax apportionment, January to June 1952, totaled <br />X1,592.44, and cigarette tax for same period, $1,825.48. <br />a number of grading contractors <br />Village The clerk was asked to phone for bids on leveling the fill in <br />Hall parking the parking area at the Village Hall and Fire Station. <br />Alley Petition for imp ro vainest of the alley between Iowa rind Hoyt from <br />petition Albert to Pascal was presented. On motion by Stewart, seconded <br />by Rekstad, it was voted unanimously to infer said petition to <br />our attorney for decking. <br />
