Lessard, Winfrey, <br />Arndt and Otis indicated they were in accord with the proposal to <br />try out a battery-operated stop sign and two pedestrian cross-walks <br />as suggested. <br />Motion Henry then moved that request be made on the Board of County Commissioners <br />for permission to install a b®ttery-operated atop sign at Arona and <br />Larpenteur avenues for controlling westbound Larpenteur avenue traffic <br />only, also for permission to install a pedestrian cross-walk at the <br />same intersection and a second pedestrian cross-walk at Larpenteur <br />avenue and Snelling drive. The motion oarried by a unanimous vote. <br />J.S.Garske <br />1576 N.Snelling Appeared before the Council relative to filling in the lot he <br /> recently purchased, adjoining Pillage property at Snelling drive <br /> and Idaho avenue. Mr. Getrske was informed that it was not <br /> permissible to Pill in the lot so as to interfere with the natural <br /> drainage. He then asked for and reoeived permission to smooth <br /> and slope off the property. <br />Building In connection with pending building inspector vacancy, Howard N. <br />Inspector Christensen, 1452 California Avenue ~1est, appeared before the <br /> Council as an applicant for the position. Mr. Christensen stated <br /> that he works as a superintendent of construction and is also a <br /> carpenter by trade. Mr. Christensen was thanked for appearing <br /> and he then departed from the meeting. <br />Appoint After a oomplete discussion, it was voted unanimously to adopt <br />Building the following resolution on motion by Stewart, seconded by Henry: <br />Inspector <br />Resolution RESOLVED, (1) That Howard N. Christensen, 1452 California ®venue <br />West, be appointed building inspector of the Village of Falcon <br />Heights, effective May 15, 1953, to succeed Dwight Reichow who is <br />resigning on that date, to serve as such until the first Council <br />meeting in 1954 unless sooner removed by majority note oP the <br />Council with or wit hout cause. <br />(2) That the building inspector shall turn over to the <br />Village treasurer by the tenth day of each month all building permit <br />fees collected during the previous month, together with a list there- <br />of, and that thereafter the building inspector shall be paid a sum <br />equal to 90 per cent of all building permit Fees collected except <br />that the division of building permit fees on, and the inspection of, <br />all structures costing more than X40,000.00 shall be arranged with <br />the Council at the time the building permit is issued. <br />(3) That the building inspector shall not issue permits or <br />
