Graham, Attorney <br />Due to an info rural di soussi on with real estate representatives as <br />to the proposed plattf ng of the 'dcGee property, the meeting was not oelled to <br />order until 8:15 P. M. Minutes of the Diey 26, 1953 meeting were then heard and <br />app roved as read. <br />Garbage Clarence Richter, 2550 N. Hemline, appeared before the council <br />oollection and calle3 attention to a state law effective July 1, 1953, <br />requiring garbage to be cooked before being Ped to hogs. This, <br />Mr. Richter said, will terminate the present garbage colleotion <br />arrangements in Falcon Heights. He offered a proposal <br />providing far collecti on of garbage and rubbish,Qnot including <br />grass clippings or brush) in the Village Por $1.00 per month, <br />starting July I, 1953. A sanitary feature of the proposed <br />plan is that garbage may be wrapped. Establishment of the <br />plan will depend on the number oP homes to be served, Mr. <br />Richter indicated. After discussion, in which Mr. Glen <br />Har3ung, 1865 Simpson Avenue, representing the Falcon Heights <br />Community Club took part, it was agreed that the Community <br />Club would circularize residents to see how many are in favor <br />of Mr. Richter's garbage and rubbish collection proposal. <br />The Clerk was also asked to prepare a news item covering <br />the matter.- <br />Hoyt Avenue John tdeGuigan, 1449 W. Hoyt; Douglas G. Garfield and Mrs. <br />bus Garfield, 1389 W. Hoyt; A. E. Seebeck, 1403 ~P. Hoyt and <br />James M. Duddleston, 1429 W. Hoyt, asked to be heard with <br />reference to a petition filed previously wi th the council <br />relative to discontinuing Street Railway bus operations on <br />Hoyt Avenue between Hemline and Pascal. After discussion, <br />it was agreed to table the matter with the understanding <br />that action, if necessary, would be taken at a future date. <br />Traffic Trustee Lodahl reported on di soussion he had with County <br />Commissioner Tony Schmidt relative to controlling vehicle <br />traffic in the Larpent au r-Swelling business area. Proposal <br />discussed, Lodahl said, was installation of a pedestrian <br />operated stop and go sign. After discussion, Lodahl was <br />requested to cheok as to coat of the sign. <br />University It was voted unanimously on motion by Henry, seconded by <br />lease Stewart, to authorise payment to the Regents, University <br />of Minnesota, of $15.00 rental due July 1, 1953, on property <br />at 1644 West Larpenteur, in aaeordanoe with terms of the <br />lease dated August 25, 1949. <br />Natural gas Attorney Graham reported to the council on the proposed <br />gas ordinance and on appointments he has scheduled in <br />this connection. <br />
