so <br />REGULAR ~i;ETING, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2~ , 1955 <br />Meeting called to order at 7:l~5 P.Td., the following council members being present: <br />George J. Shavor, Acting 2~'ayor; David P. Cartwright, Trustee; and Clyde J. Stewart, <br />Clerk. Absent: Robert E. Stenzinger, Mayor, and Andrew Hustrulid, Trustee. Also <br />present: V~'illiam E. Olsen, Treasurer, and Frank N. Graham, Attorney. <br />~~inutes of August 17, 1955., meeting were heard and approved as read. <br />Reqn. #62 covering supplies for Clerk was ordered approved on motion by <br />Shavor, seconded by Cartwright. <br />was <br />Asbury driveway Building Inspector Christensen reported that a driveway/installed <br />too high at 1877 Asbury without a permit by Henry Lutz, contractor. Also <br />that the driveway was too high and extended too far into the <br />street according to ±the ordinance. The council asked Shavor <br />to check and report on what had to be done to the Village attorney <br />so that the contractor could be written accordingly. <br />Area at Letter of August 2~i from Donald I. Carley, of our Village Engineer's <br />Arona south staff, was read, reporting on his inspection of the blacktopped <br />of Larpenteur area on Arona street, south of Larpenteur, and t:he drainage or run- <br />off problem which nearby residents had complained about. Our <br />engineer questioned that the run-off from an area this size could <br />be increased measurably, but said that the situation should be <br />watched and if any floodi.n~; of property occurs that steps be taken <br />to divert the run-off in another way. Cartwright moved that <br />the Clerk forward. a copy of P.Rr. Carley's letter to "'?r. Fred Rahn, <br />Chairmanof the homeowners' group. Seconded by Shavor and motion <br />carried. <br />Douglas Rees Condition of the alley behind the Rees business block north of <br />alley Larpenteur, was discussed. Agreed that Engineer Don Carley <br />should. check the alley and advise Trustee Shavor as to what <br />should be done with respect to fixing holes and making other <br />repairs. <br />Street ~ After discussion of a proposed. street program, Cartwright moved <br />program that the Village Engineer be authorized to make periodic <br />inspections of the Village streets and that he make recommendations <br />for the maintenance of same from time to time. Seconded by <br />Stewart and :notion carried. <br />Village Hall The matter of improving the parking area at the Village Hall and <br />parking area Fire Station was considered. Engineer Carley advised having a <br /> contractor haul in some sand for surfacing the area. <br />Public Safety Don Arndt, representing the Public Safety Commission in Sid <br /> Bumgardner's absence, said he checked with P:~r. Clewett of the <br /> State High~~~ay Department on the recent routing of trucks on <br /> Snelling serRice lane from the post office to Larpenteur avenue. <br /> Said that only thing that could be done is to put up two signs <br /> reading "No Thru Traffic." The Highway Department informed <br />Swanson asked Arndt: nothing could re done .about the turn. Arndt also reported <br />to turn in traffic <br />ta <br />s he had talked with Cens~able George Swanson about turning in to <br />the public safety supervisor the traffic tags belonging to the <br />g Village which Swanson still had in his possession. Swanson <br /> deC1 fined to do this, Arndt• said, stating' he would return the <br /> traffic tags to the Village if the council requested him to do so. <br />
