6'~ 4 <br />PUBLIC HEARING, WF~NESDAY, APRIL 25, 1956 <br />(Jansen Fsros. Inc. Rezoning Request dated April 11, 1956) <br />The hearing was declared open at 8:30 P.M., with the following council members <br />present: ~Yilliam R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; David P. Cartwright, <br />Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also present: Villa ge <br />Attorney Frank ~d. Graham and Treasurer William F,. Olsen. <br />About 25 persons were in attendance. <br />Mayor Mayor Utecht said the purpose of the hearing was to consider <br /> the petition dated April 11, 1956, signed by Jansen Brothers <br /> and others, requesting that the property at about 1790 West <br /> Larpenteur be rezoned from Farm Residence District to Industrial <br /> District. <br />Attorney Village Attorney Graham reviewed previous action taken by the <br /> council in voting to accept the petition subject to checking <br /> by the attorney, and to hold a public hearing on the petition <br /> in accord with the posted notice. He said the Clerk's affidavit <br /> of postt+li~ stated that copies of the notice were posted on April 11t, <br /> 1956, i-n the three Village posting places. Attorney Graham said <br /> there were no buildings on the property described in the petition. <br /> The petition, he said, was referred by the council to the Planning <br /> Commission. He then read a letter from the Planning Commission, <br /> dated April 23, 1956, stating that after consideration of the <br />Planning petition for rezoning, it was the Planning Commission's recommendation <br />Commission that the property be rezoned to Business District, with the <br />recommendation recommendation that any buildings be set back 100 feet from <br /> Larpenteur avenue. <br />~ <br />~ Mayor The Mayor asked if any of the citizens present wished to bpeak <br /> for or against the petition. Plans which the Planning Commission <br /> had considered, were then submitted and discussed. These showed <br /> the proposed building to be one story building, 75x172, which it <br /> was stated would be used by the Waterbury-St Paul Company as a <br /> sales and show room for furnaces and for doing some duct work. <br />Citizens Those taking part in the discussion were: <br />taking part <br /> Gregory Keller, 1038 North Avon <br /> John J. Keller, 1780 West Larpenteur <br /> Mrs. Peter Keller, 1800 4Yest Larpenteur <br /> Ralph Keller, 1830 West Larpenteur <br /> E. C. Killmer, 1700 West Larpenteur <br /> Following a full discussion of the proposed rezoning, the building <br /> setback, how close the proposed building would be to the property <br /> line, character of the Waterbury St Paul Company operation, and <br /> what effect if any the rezoning would have on taxes of property <br /> <br />Discussion owners in the area, Mr. Jr~+~t~. Keller stated he favored the <br />rezoning. Mrs. Peter Keller said she would have no objection if <br /> the proposed business was a quiet and clean operation. Mr. Killmer <br /> said he would suggest not because he was in the nursery business <br /> that those putting up the building be required to spend about <br /> #1,000 for a good landscapes jcb_-on the front of it. <br /> No one else wishing to be heard, the question was asked ~iether <br />
