a21 <br />PUBLIC HEARING, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 1956 <br />The Mayor declared. the hearing open at 7:10 P.Td., the following council members <br />being present: William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; David P. <br />Cartwright, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also <br />present: William E. Olsen,. Treasurer, and Frank N. Graham, Attorney. <br />About 10 persons were in attendance. <br />The Village attorney explained that the hearing had been called in accordancev~~~~ <br />ordinance and statute requirements for the purpose of considering the trimming <br />and care of boulevard trees in the area described in the published notice of <br />the hearing, also for considering assessing the cost of the trimming and care <br />of the trees against the owners of abutting property according to law. Clerk's <br />affidavit of posting was submitted to evidence that the notice of the hearing <br />had been published in The Rose Tribune on September 20 and September 27, 1956, <br />also that copies of the notice were posted at the Village's three posting <br />places. <br />Mr. and had questions regarding procedure, costs and the area involved, <br />Mrs. Scott which were answered by Attorney Graham. Mrs. Johnson said they <br />Johnson, had four boulevard trees, including two large trees on Hamline <br />13l~1 W. Iowa Avenue, and indicated they might find it difficult to pay the <br />trimming costs. Mr. John Schultz, 217 N. Snelling, St Paul, <br />tree trimmer, was present and estimated that the four trees <br />could be trimmed for about X45.00, but said this was not a <br />guaranteed price. <br />Recessed The meeting wa.s ordered recessed at 7:l~5 P.M.and <br />Reconvened ~~ reconvened at 9:15 P.M. <br />Dr. D.M. Garrow, spoke for the proposed trimming of boulevard trees, stating <br />1188 Iowa Ave.W. that the trees need trimming as they obstruct lighting in the <br />evening and. create traffic hazards. <br />Hearing No one else wishing to be heard, the Mayor declared the hearing <br />closed closed at 9:30 P.M. <br />~~~-, <br />_-_ Cle <br />Approved: <br />Mayor <br />1 <br />
