After discussion, Stexart moved that the petition be returned to the Planning Commission's Secretary, Mr. Otis, xith a request on our Village attorney to contact Mr. Otis and explain the application of Ordinance No. 16 to this situation. Hotel proposal- Report dated Hecember 5, 1956, from the Planning Commission, Geo. Bauman & Co. xas read relative to the proposal of George Bauman and Company, of St Paul, to convert their properties at 163lt and 16l~2 N. Snelling and 1561 West Idaho from su~l.tiple dwelling classification to a roadside motel, recommending that the surrounding property owners, who agreed to the multiple dwelling rezoning on the basis of plans and anticipated use of the buildings, be notified or that a public hearing on the matter should be held. The Planning Commission asked as to the total number of motel units the Company proposes to operate and questioned that presen t parking facilities xould accommodate more than the present number of dwelling units. Utecht moved that a copy of the Planning Commission's letter on this matter be referred to George Bauman and Company. Seconded by Stewart and motion carried unanimously. Gas rates The Clerk presented a new rate schedule which he said xas filed xith the Village by the Power Company recently, providing for a reduction of about 5~ per cent in the Company's revenues for general service in Falcon Heights, effective December 1, 1956. This lead to discussion of the council's action of November 28, 1956, to request the Power Company to grant natural gas users in Falcon Heights the same rate as charged users in the City of St Paul. .Utecht moved that the new rate schedule be referred to our attorney in connection xith xriting a letter to the Power Company, thanking them for the 'pericent reduction and asking that gas rates in Falcon Heights be reduced to the same rates charged in the City of St Paul. Seconded by Cartwright and motion carried unanimously. Warming house Notification from the Power Company xas presented that a electric service request had been tiled for electric service for the xarming house at the skating rink, 1393 Garden. Cartwright moved that the Clerk be authorized to complete the notice, authorizing the service. Seconded by Utecht and motion carried unanimously.
