CONSENT G4 <br />10/13/04 <br />ITEM: Approval of expenditure to Muska Lighting for lighting at Curtiss <br />Field, for an amount not to exceed $11,298.00 <br />SUBMITTED BY: Greg Hoag, Director of Public Works <br />REVIEWED BY: Heather Worthington, City Administrator <br />EXPLANATION: <br />Summary: The Curtiss Field Improvements project scope did not include lighting <br />improvements for the Park; however, these were planned to be covered in any contingency funds <br />and capital funds allocated for parks in 2004. Staff has reviewed expenditures related to the <br />project, and has determined that a budget transfer from the Community Park line item in the <br />amount of $8,000 should be made to the Curtiss Field line item to cover the costs of the lighting <br />improvements. The Curtiss Field line item included $4,000 for 20041ight pole replacement. <br />Muska Electric has submitted a bid for this project in the amount of $11,298.00. <br />The project scope would include: <br />• • Removal of existin wooden oles and the <br />g p quartz lighting fixture on them. <br />• Removal of the quartz lighting fixture on one existing metal pole. <br />• Installation of three new concrete bases and steel poles (from city back stock). <br />• New conduit and power to the new poles, and installation of new 175 watt small framed <br />floods with illumination cut-off. <br />• Installation of one 3-way bull horn style fixture and a new style fixture on the existing <br />steel pole. <br />The new fixtures will more efficient, and therefore more economical in terms of energy usage. <br />This lighting plan was approved unanimously at the July Parks and Recreation Commission <br />meeting. <br />Meets Goa12: To sustain and promote the assets of the city's unique neighborhoods and tax <br />base including commercial, residential and open space uses for present and future generations. <br />Strategy 1: Maintain and enhance the neighborhood and community parks with updated <br />facilities, recreation and community services. <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />• Approval of expenditure to Muska Lighting, not to exceed $11,298.00, for installation of <br />new lighting at Curtiss Field <br />as <br />
