Candidate
University of Minnesota
School of Public Health
August 24, 2004
Acknowledgements
This project was commissioned by the City of Falcon Heights, MN to assess the community's knowledge of current emergency preparedness
strategies and resources. Thank you to Mayor Sue Gehrz, Kris Grangaard, and the residents of Falcon Heights for your support and cooperation.
The opportunity to study a community as dedicated to civic participation and social well being as Falcon Heights has been the perfect supplement
to my studies in Community Health Education. Thank you to the J.B. Hawley Reseazch Awazd Committee for providing me with the funding to
carry out this project. I would like to thank Dr. Phyllis Pirie for her instrumental support during this process. Without her guidance and unfailing
optimism, my Teaming experience would have not been as rewazding and worthwhile as it has been. I would also like to thank my committee
• members, Dr. John Finnegan, Jr. and Gary Schwitzer for their wisdom and supervision throughout my graduate cazeer. Thank you to the amazing
team at DCSS who assisted me with the logistics of my project every step of the way. Finally, thank you to my family and friends for always
making me laugh when there seemed to be no end in sight.
3~
