•
•

CONSENT G2
7/28/04
ITEM: Approval of Capitol City Mutual Aid Association Reciprocal Fire
Service Agreement
SUBMITTED BY: Heather Worthington, City Administrator
REVIEWED BY: Clem Kurhajetz, Chief, Falcon Heights Fire Department
EXPLANATION:
Summary: The Capitol City Mutual Aid Association is an affiliation of local fire departments in
the metro area that have long-standing mutual aid agreements. Mutual aid agreements provide
equipment, personnel and other resources to requesting jurisdictions for the purpose of providing
additional fire suppression or emergency response. These agreements are reciprocal, meaning
that any participant in the agreement can call on another member city for assistance and vice
versa, without financial consideration. This agreement covers the procedure for requesting
assistance, the response, any recall of that assistance, and the command of the scene. In addition,
it has provisions for Worker's Compensation, any damage to equipment, and liability of the
participating cities.
This updated agreement will expire in December, 2006. It is reviewed and renewed by the
participating jurisdictions every two years.
ATTACHMENT:
• Reciprocal Fire Service Agreement on pages
ACTION REQUESTED:
• Approve agreement
~8
