MINUTES <br />REGULAR PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />September 26, 1994 <br />7 p.m. <br />PRESENT ABSENT ALSO PRESENT <br />Lee Barry Kay Andrews Susan Hoyt, Administrator <br />Wendy Treadwell Tom Brace Carla Asleson, Planner <br />Paul Kuettel Lisa Lampi Sam Jacobs, Council Liaison <br />Ken Salzberg <br />Meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Chairperson Barry. <br />Minutes of the July 25, 1994 were unanimously approved as written. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON REQUEST FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE <br />OPERATION OF A SECONDHAND CLOTHING STORE AT 1583 W. HAMLINE <br />AVE. <br />City Administrator Hoyt explained to the commission that Mr. J.T. Bonner <br />wishes to open a used clothing store in the basement of the shopping center at <br />1583 Hamline Avenue, which is owned by Mr. Dirk Bordson. This requires a <br />conditional use permit. She said all property owners within 350 feet of the <br />proposed business were notified by mail of the public hearing and a legal notice <br />was published in the local paper. Two calls were received. One caller was <br />concerned about parking along residential streets. A second caller highly <br />recommended Mr. Bonner's endeavor saying that he had donated much needed <br />clothing to a family in the resident's church. <br />Public Hearing opened at 7:05. <br />The property owner, Mr. Bordson, and Mr. Bonner, the proprietor, were in <br />attendance. <br />Mr. Bonner, the store proprietor, spoke briefly saying the premises would be <br />used for the sale of used clothing only. This clothing would come from church, <br />school, garage, and yard sales. He said that he did not plan to take items on <br />consignment. He said he had talked to other business owners in the building <br />and received a positive response from them. His hours of operation would be <br />weekdays 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. <br />Public Hearing closed at 7:13. <br />
