These properfles can lead <br />to die deterioration of surrounding residen- <br />tial neighborhoods and drag down property <br />values. <br />Savvy developers and city administrators <br />are workbrg to redevelop or revamp aging <br />strip complexes to make them more compet- <br />itive. The idea is to attract Idgher profile, <br />national tenants that will pay lugher rents and <br />attract more shoppers. Creathig neighbor- <br />hood retail centers also helps meet the sur- <br />roundingresidents' needs. <br />The attention tlrat aging strip centers have <br />received in the past few yeazs is necessary if <br />the complexes are to compete with newer <br />forms of retail, experts say.
