City of Falcon Heights <br />i 2003 Park and Recreation Accomplishments <br />1. Completed plans for Curtiss Field improvements. <br />2. Worked with the Capital Region Watershed and the developer of the SE <br />corner to reduce water flow from that site to Curtiss Field by 72% <br />3. Awarded grant of $54,000 from DNR to improve the Trolley Path. Held 4 <br />public meetings to work on neighborhood approval of improvements. <br />4. Reduced recreation program expenditures by 23% while increasing <br />participation. <br />5. Provided recreation scholarships for 22 children with funds raised by the <br />Falcon Heights Friends of the Parks Fund. <br />6. Held two successful, well attended community events. <br />7. Installed ADA compliant surface at Grove Park. <br />8. Received a $3,000 donation from the Falcon Heights Lions Club for the <br />installation of a new playground structure that will be installed in spring of <br />2004 <br />9. Initiated a new field use policy that recovers costs of field use by large <br />tournaments. <br />10. Participated in preliminary discussions with Falcon Heights Elementary <br />School over collaborative efforts to enhance recreation facilities at the school. <br />Items discussed include a new playground with a creative play element and a <br />hockey rink. <br /> <br />30 <br />
