CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota <br />STATE STATUTE FINDINGS <br />Year Ended December 31, 2003 <br />Submit Outstanding Obligations Report to the County <br />Minnesota Statutes 471.70 states a municipality must report on or before February 1 of each year <br />to the County Auditor the total amount of outstanding obligations and the purposes for which <br />they were issued as of December 31 of the preceding year. <br />During our audit, we noted this report was not sent to the County Auditor prior to the February 1 <br />deadline. <br />We recommend future reports are filed in a timely manner to comply with Minnesota Statutes. <br />Mileage Reimbursement/Automobile Allowance <br />Minnesota Statutes 471.665, states that if the City has established an automobile allowance for <br />any officer or employee, it must be in lieu of all other mileage reimbursement to that officer or <br />employee. <br />For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2003, the Citypaid an employee an automobile <br />allowance and also paid mileage reimbursement for out-of--town trips. <br />We recommend the City review and amend its mileage reimbursement and automobile allowance <br />policies to ensure they comply with Minnesota Statutes. <br />10 <br />
