• Attachment 3 <br />DRAFT RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, The City/Township of (City) (Township) has been <br />reviewing the needs of the radio .communication system that provides emergency <br />services to police, fire, and emergency medical agencies in its jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Radio Board, as a result of legislative changes, <br />has the authority and resources to provide financial assistance to local units of <br />government in the metropolitan area that plan to participate in the regional 800 MHz <br />digital trunked communication system; and <br />WHEREAS, Special legislative authority has been given to Minnesota counties to <br />issue bonds for the purpose of designing, constructing, .and installing the infrastructure, <br />facilities, and equipment necessary to participate in the regional system; and <br />WHEREAS, Federal funds have been appropriated and made available through <br />the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to supplement local and state funds for the <br />• purpose of participating in the regional system, for which metropolitan area local <br />governments are eligible; and <br />WHEREAS, The (governing body) of (entity) has determined that its participation <br />in the regional system would improve its interoperability among its various agencies and <br />with other jurisdictions for purposes of mutual aid and emergency medical services, thus <br />improving public safety, as well as the entire region's ability to respond to weapons of <br />mass destruction incidents; Now, Therefore, Be It <br />RESOLVED, That the (governing body) of (entity) intends to proceed with <br />planning for development of an upgraded radio communication system with the intention <br />of participating in the regional system and that the Metropolitan Radio Board be notified <br />of (entity's) intention and request any state or federal financial incentives that may be <br />offered to local jurisdictions. <br />• <br /> <br />
