• CONSENT F8 <br />8/13/03 <br />Amended <br />ITEM: Adoption of Ordinance 03-OS Regarding the Minnesota State Building <br />Code, Options, and Fee Schedule <br />SUBMITTED BY: Heather Worthington, City Administrator <br />REVIEWED BY: Steve Westerhaus, Building Official <br />EXPLANATION: <br />Summary: The State of Minnesota adopted the 2003 Minnesota State Building Code <br />in May, 2003. Cities are now required to update their individual code ordinances to reflect the <br />changes and enforce the new code, which is already in effect. <br />This building code applies statewide and supersedes any building code of a city. A sample <br />self-perpetuating ordinance is attached for your perusal and approval. <br />Building Official Westerhaus is reviewing the options portion of the 2003 Minnesota State <br />Building Code and will be providing recommendations for the City Council's consideration. <br />• His recommendations will be distributed prior to the Council meeting on August 13, 2003. <br />The last component of the code is the adoption of the fee schedule. At this time, staff <br />recommends that the fee schedule from the 1997 Universal Building Code be utilized.
