Falcon Heights City Council <br />Agenda Item F-10 <br />4/25/90. <br />DRAFT <br />WHEREAS, the Cities of Falcon Heights and Roseville are similar <br />geographically and demographically, and <br />WHEREAS, the two cities are located in close proximity to each other <br />without significant natural or man-made barriers, and <br />WHEREAS, the two cities share historical roots in the old Rose Township, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the two cities share interests in many other local public and <br />private organizations such as the Roseville Area School District, <br />Northwest Suburban Youth Services, the Roseville-Falcon Heights <br />Chapter of the Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce, and <br />WHEREAS, the two cities share similar histories of responsible management <br />and are in sound financial condition, and <br />WHEREAS, the two cities have experienced mutual benefits through previous <br />cooperative efforts such as the recently executed police service <br />contract, and several road construction projects affecting both <br />cities, and <br />WHEREAS, the two cities may be able to achieve cost savings and/or service <br />improvements through economies of scale which may result from <br />increased cooperation, <br />NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Falcon Heights City Council <br />invites the Roseville City Council to join in a cooperative <br />effort to explore areas of strategic interest with potential <br />mutual benefit, and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Falcon Heights City Administration be <br />authorized to identify alternative strategies for studying <br />potential cooperative efforts, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council be invited to <br />join the Falcon Heights City Council in a combined City Council <br />workshop as soon as it can be scheduled to discuss the scope and <br />strategy for the study, <br />~E IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Falcon Heights City Council requests the <br />Roseville City Council to authorize its administrative staff to work <br />with the Falcon Heights staff in identifying options for the councils <br />to consider. <br />
