POLICY Hl <br />• 6/8/05 <br />ITEM: Consideration of Resolution 2005-08 approving the bid for one triple <br />combination pumper apparatus to be built on a 1,250 gallon per <br />minute Fire Department Pumper with Sterling Acterra 2-door chassis <br />cab, Full Response crew cab, Waterous fire pump system, and <br />stainless steel body per City specifications issued March 9, 2005 <br />SUBMITTED BY: Clem Kurhajetz, Fire Chief, Falcon Heights Fire Department <br />FHFD Truck Committee <br />REVIEWED BY: Heather Worthington, City Administrator <br />EXPLANATION: <br />Summary: The Council is being asked to approve Resolution 2005-08 awarding the low bid <br />to Custom Fire Apparatus Inc., for a new fire pumper, for a total cost of $283,980. The City <br />received only one bid for this fire apparatus. <br />Goal 1: To protect the public health and safety <br />Strategy 1: Provide public safety services to citizens <br />• Background Information: The 2005 Capital Improvement Budget allocated $285,000 for the <br />purchase of a new fire pumper. This truck will replace the 1978 LaFrance pumper, which has <br />had transmission and pump problems over the past two years. Custom Fire Apparatus Inc. <br />expects to deliver the new truck within 180-200 days of the City signing a contract with them <br />for the purchase. <br />Staff also requests that the Council authorize the $58,000 progress payment to the <br />Osceola, Wisconsin factory for delivery of the truck chassis at this time. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• Bid from Custom Fire Apparatus, Inc. on page ~_ <br />• Resolution 2005-08 awarding bid to Custom Fire Apparatus Inc., on page <br />• Motor vehicle purchase contract, and warranty information on pages <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />• Approve Resolution 2005-08 awarding the bid to Custom Fire Apparatus Inc. for one <br />1,250 gallon per minute Fire Department Pumper with Sterling Acterra 2-door chassis <br />cab, Full Response crew cab, Waterous fire pump system, and stainless steel body per <br />specifications issued by the City on March 9, 2005, for $283,980 <br />3~ <br />
