POLICY H4
12/14/05
• ITEM: Approval of Lauderdale Fire Contract
SUBMITTED BY: Heather Worthington, City Administrator
REVIEWED BY: Roger Knutson, City Attorney
Brian Bakken-Heck, City Administrator, Lauderdale
EXPLANATION:
Summary: Since approximately 1980, the City of Falcon Heights has provided fire services to the City of
Lauderdale under contract. This contract language has not been updated since 1996, and staff from both
cities reviewed the contract language earlier this fall, and made recommendations to both city councils
regarding needed changes.
Specifically, two major changes were made to the existing agreement. First, the amended contract
includes a provision for Lauderdale to pay for a portion of capital costs for equipment, including fire
trucks, based on their share of the overall fire department budget; and the addition of two appendixes to
the agreement that outline the fee schedule and the capital share issue. The fee schedule also reflects cost
of living increases for call out pay.
Lauderdale's City Council approved the contract at their last council meeting.
• ATTACHMENT:
Amended contract for fire services
ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of contract to provide fire services to the City of Lauderdale

27
~CHG02:40069922.v1 ~9/28/OS 11:33 AM
