MINUTES <br />JULY 28, 1993 <br />PAGE 3 <br />of the design as presented and authorization to proceed with the <br />project at a cost not to exceed $42,000. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />REVIEW OF ALLEY RECONSTRUCTION DISCUSSION WITH NORTHOME RESIDENTS <br />Hoyt explained that on June 1, 1993 a meeting was held with <br />neighborhood residents regarding the necessity of reconstructing <br />the alleys. Maurer then reviewed the items discussed at the <br />neighborhood meeting and explained that a new 5 year improvement <br />plan is being prepared and he and Hoyt agreed that alleys should <br />be given top priority. <br />Council had a number of questions regarding storm drainage, what <br />type of alley reconstruction would be necessary, whether or not <br />it is necessary to reconstruct all of the alleys, and possible <br />city participation in the cost. It was determined that a <br />feasibility study was necessary to obtain answers to these <br />questions. Maurer estimated that the study would cost <br />apprxoximately $3,500. Gehrz moved that the engineer prepare a <br />feasibility study on the proposed alley project which carried <br />unanimously. <br />• ADMINI5TRATOR TO MEET WTH SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICIALS REGARDING <br />CITY PARTICIPATION AND ASSESSMENT FOR EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS AT <br />FALCON HEIGHTS SCHOOL <br />Hoyt explained that in conjunction with the elementary school <br />remodeling there will be exterior. improvements such as storm <br />sewer connections, sidewalks, lighting and construction and <br />repaving of parking lots. There is an .opportunity for the city <br />to explore participating in this project and assessing the school <br />district as other communities have in the past.
