Agenda Item 6 <br />ITEM: Introduction of the proposed revisions in the <br />commercial zones <br />SUBMITTED BY: Fred Hoisington, Planning Consultant <br />REVIEWED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br />Brian Standing, Planning Intern <br />EXPLANATION/DESCRIPTION: <br />In 1991 the city adopted a comprehensive plan. The plan called <br />for some revisions in the city's commercial zones, primarily to <br />eliminate some unusual zones, like B-lA and E-B, and to establish <br />a neighborhood commercial zone. <br />Consulting planner, Fred Hoisington, will present the preliminary <br />work on the commercial zone changes. He prepared the attached <br />portions of the zoning code for discussion (Attachment A). <br />Please refer to your zoning code book (grey loose-leaf) for the <br />existing codes. <br />All commercial property owners in the city were notified of the <br />• proposed changes and sent preliminary drafts of these sections of <br />the code. Fred Hoisington and the staff invited all commercial <br />property owners to attend a meeting to discuss these changes. <br />Mr. Horazdovsky, of Hoyt-Hamline Auto Repair, Mr. Ladner and Mr. <br />Whermann of Northome and Ms. Gimmestad of B & J .Floral attended <br />the discussion session. <br />This is for discussion. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />A - Commercial portion of .the zoning map <br />B - Draft of proposed commercial zoning code changes <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />1.
