However, <br />substantial changes, policy deletions or additions are <br />noted in the document. <br />DRAFT 1/28/91 <br />Page 1 <br />PROPOSED POLICIES FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE LAND USE PLAN, 2000 <br />NEIGHBORHOODS/HOUSING <br />OBJECTIVES: <br />1. To improve the quality, appearance and maintenance of <br />housing in neighborhoods. <br />2. To minimize land use and traffic intrusions that <br />adversely impact established neighborhoods. <br />3. To continue the well-maintained residential character <br />of existing neighborhoods. <br />POLICIES: <br />1. Adopt and enforce a housing code to assure the maintenance <br />of the existing housing stock. ~ <br />2. Pursue and encourage housing rehabilitation programs. <br />3. Continue to make rental assistance available to residents <br />through the Metropolitan Housing and Redevelopment Authority <br />Section 8 Program. <br />New *4. Allow group homes in residential districts <br />not less than 1/2 mile between homes. <br />5. Eliminate zoning code violations. and nuisance conditions <br />that adversely affect neighborhoods. <br />Re- 6. Maintain the single-family character of the existing <br />vise residential neighborhoods and discourage redevelopment <br />that may be considered a change in use unless irreversible <br />blight can be demonstrated. <br />(To accommodate serious blight adjacent to G@v~'cUL- ~-Cfn~+e.rc.ia~. <br />district .) <br />7.
